I caught this gorgeous Northern Pike kayak fishing in Chapman Lake in North East Indiana on 02 October 2016. I gave me a pretty decent ride in my kayak. I was fishing with a white and red 1/4oz swim jig at the edge of a lily pad field.

Kayak fishing for bass in the ditches along the Kankakee River. Top water lures are excellent this time of year. I was using a Berkley Choppo 105 and my buddy was using a Booyah buzzbait.
Some Bass and Pike, a Dogfish, and a fairly rough portage.

Where do u park?ive used the cutrite ramp with ,my boat for day trips but never kayaked in.was thinking of doing a 2 night trip this week.thanks
I believe it’s cutrite where I usually park. It’s the boat ramp just south of Monroe as you cross the bridge to the east. Never had an issue there parking overnight. There is a boat ramp on the north side of the lake if you stay of 46 and dont get on 446. You will eventually get off 46 and hit some country roads to get there.

I’m watching your video because I will be kayak camping the Charles Deam wilderness next weekend. I had to chuckle to myself a little when you said the great thing is an endless supply of water to drink. everything I am seeing from the DNR right now is that the lake is filled with this blue green algae, and filters won’t filter it out, boiling it actually releases more toxins, and even purification tablets won’t kill it. it’s looking like we are going to have to pack in four days worth of water for two people. i’m thinking that’s going to be between 70 and 80 pounds.
Man, that sucks. I did not have the blue green algae when I went down there. As a matter of fact, I have never seen it in the many times I was down there. Yes, I would yak in some water!! Have fun, it’s a great place to camp!!

They were reloads for my 22 hornet I had. I cannot remember the load data now.
The alligator snapping turtle was trapped heavily in that bayou in the years before 1993. I hope there were a few left. If they weren't trapped for too many years they could have come back because small turtles dont usually take to trapping.

Having never heard electronic raccoon calling before I must state the sound is quite weird, but seems to work! Are you hunting them for the sport or do you harvest the pelts? Also, what part of the country are you in?
