    are you saying collar or color sanding? I am experimenting with tung oil for the first time. I always look for youtube university videos that explain things better/different than the original instructions. haha. The can says to wait 5-10 min and then buff. I didn't see you buff anything. Then wait 24 hours, like you mentioned. I have put on two coats and I am not getting any sheen. just a dull rubbed style finish. I am also doing it over a stained table, not bare wood, which the can says you can do. you ever used a heat gun instead of a torch? Thank you for the videos! your table looks great!

    • @thehobbyguy4me
      @thehobbyguy4me 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Color sanding. If you are not familiar with that, it is sanding after you get the final coat of clear or paint on a project. You sand until smooth and try and not sand through. LOl! Then buff it out to a nice finish. I put on 3 coats in a day. I do not use this product like the can says to use. To get that glossy look, you will need to apply 6 to 10 coats. I do that by applying 3 coats a day. I do a lite sanding after 3 coats. That is just to knock down dust that gets in the finish. You will see it get shinny as you move along. I use a heat gun to get bubbles out, not to dry it. I have also used a torch of sorts to do the same thing. As you get to the high gloss look, the more air bubbles get in it. In one of my videos, I do show me buffing out this table. I use Minwax finishing wax on that part. Thanks for your input, hope I was helpful. Good luck on your project, and remember not to get in a rush to get it done. It will work out. HGW.

If you take care of them they work great for my hobby level usage. Looking into getting a jointer some day - I just bought a planer last month during the holiday sale. For a Hobby Guy like me, Harbor Freight is a must. You can get a pretty good product for a lot less money than the big names. Like you said, if you take care of them, they last a long while. It is honestly better to save up until you can afford at least a 6ft jointer. The rigid jointer is a great introduction jointer and you can usually grab one for around $600 new if you wait for home depot to have a sale or keep an eye out on facebook market place. The problem with the tabletop jointer is that you can only do really small boards accurately because of the in\out feed tables.
