Michael KerBingle same, im picky too. Took me forever to choose a monitor, research research research. To answer your question, yes it is still a great monitor for 2020. Its not the best, bur bang for your buck you will get

And sorry to be more clear I hear if this particular monitor runs bad at 60 fps (let's say I wanted to run a game at higher settings and was fine getting 60 fps consistently rather then somthing higher I hear this monitor doesn't do the greatest at 60 fps if you were running a game at those lower frames. Similar problem to the vg27aq I believe)

Results as tested on video editor and World of Tanks (highest settings): >>>>59/60hz -noticeable sharpness in picture, more robust and sudden, but effective when not playing game, video editor performed well at this refresh rate, movie “fallen angel” was showing no change from hz difference even at highest action scenes >>>>100-144hz -slight flicker⚠️of the darks (black color) when moving over icons in both game and editor (annoying), gameplay smoother and softer overall feeling instead of sharpness (noticeable in plant and vehicle movements)

you can definitely see HDR in movies and games, darks are darks and you should be able to maintain 1 ms Customization limited to Brightness Sharpness Contrast Color- wish there were more Sorry for late reply still getting used to youtubing Hoped I helped))
