@@Toronto-Brad Thank you for the kind words, I appreciate the support, definitely many great ones out there at the moment! but hopefully i can help cover this beautiful city
Much more 'peaceful', calling the territory 'dormant', than dead. - Your audience
To be fair dead mall is a technical term for a shopping centre that has low consumer traffic as per this one. - DaPace
With observations such as: "This is the upper floor and its quiet" --Go figure
Yeah not much to speak on with a setting like this one 😂, of course vastly different when it opened in the 70s
@@DaPace 😂 ...cool spot man!
Much appreciated! But also appreciate the feedback I’m gonna try to be more researched on future vids!
A Tim Horton shop would help with foot traffic
Definitely ample space for one and a few tables
These mall could be saved with massive rent reductions and upgrades to security. like 14
This is what happens when Commercial space rent is jacked up to high causing the price of goods to become undesirable to consumer's
imagine zombies came out and started coming after you BRAIIIINNNNNSSSSSSS toronto is pretty scary tho actually. especially the traffic
@@babycakez-j8b honestly felt like that in the upper floor , lights half dim - eerie experience
Why not move the homeless encampment into these vacant malls?
I second that, the government is incredibly lacking in providing support for them when they definitely have the resources and money to do so
make a live action video/laser tag game with zombies busting through doors
This mall would be a good map for that!
Been on life support for 2 decades. Now it looks dead. RIP. Plans for condo there on the books.
Damn this mall looks so clean and maintained for a dead mall! both escalators are working as well is crazy. Woodbine Center by Rexdale which isn't completely dead isn't treated that well. xD
I pointed out how dead it was a decade ago as I would frequent The Pilot across the street. How has nothing been done with this prime piece of real estate?
It's like the Backrooms!
@@RetroBathSalts definitely had that look and feel!
i am old enough to remember walking through Cumberland Terrace around Christmas 1989, shortly after I first moved to Toronto. All of the empty stores were full, but there weren't that many customers. I recall thinking how is this mall sustainable. Turns out it wasn't. Cumberland Terrace starting getting hollowed out by the recession in the early 1990s and never really recovered. The pandemic was the death knell for many of the remaining shops.
Thanks for sharing the history, it definitely adds to the shock of how empty it is now given that it was once fully occupied to this day , while Yorkville is generally bustling. Do you foresee this mall ever going back to the activity you once saw?
@@DaPace Last I heard the mall was slated to be torn down for condo development. But that was before the condo market crashed, so we shall see.
There are many other small dead malls in Toronto that are not well recorded. For example, Davisville Centre, the mall with Bay Street Video, 1240 Bay Street, and others.
@@deadmallition thank you for the reco! I’ll do some research and aim to cover them. This was a impromptu video as I was just passing by the area on the day but I’ll try to make it better on the next ones and walk slower felt I rushed this one.
Mystery Babylon is falling 🌠
Brick and mortar retail has seen better days for sure
Did you go out for Black Friday Shopping?
I didn't get my salary on time (what the hell)😅
@all good! The sales were not as great as they say anyway. Maybe better luck on Boxing Day!

Fish indeed!
That fight was horrible , mural looks solid!
Agreed!
2/10
