Phantom Regiment Warm Up, 1979 Finals
มุมมอง 9K12 ปีที่แล้ว
Little seen warm up footage of Phantom Regiment's finals performance at the DCI finals in 1979, taken from the PBS broadcast; sadly, DCI did not include this in the Legacy Series footage. I apologize for the low quality video and audio, but this is from a 2nd generation video tape. This was Steve "Reliable Rondo" Rondinaro's first DCI telecast, and he was joined by the legendary Maynard Ferguso...

McCormick's How to Series, Flags 1
มุมมอง 2.4K13 ปีที่แล้ว
This is the first in the color guard instructional series produced by McCormick's in the 1970s to help marching bands create corps-style colorguards in their band programs. This is a wonderful slice-of-life from a simpler time in the world of marching arts. Enjoy!
McCormick's How to Series, Flags 3.wmv

Part 3 of the McCormick's How to Series for flags. This part features the Guardsmen and the legendary Marie Grana. Colorguards of today have their genesis in the basics of flag handling as it used to be done. Enjoy!
Flags 4, Meet the 27th Lancers
มุมมอง 16K13 ปีที่แล้ว
Instructional film produced by McCormick's. This film features the 1978 27th Lancers colorguard. At the time, 27 had the top guard in the country and it's easy to see why. This film also features the legendary George Zingali and Peggy Twiggs. Enjoy!
Madison Scouts, Flags 2 Instructional Film
มุมมอง 1.9K13 ปีที่แล้ว
Instructional film produced by McCormick's, ca. 1974-75, featuring the Madison Scouts. I found this on an old videotape in my collection and decided it was time to share it as I've never seen it anywhere else online. Enjoy!

Flag routines looked like an awesome workout for the arms and shoulders. Truly an athletic activity turned over more to dance in the modern era.

I was so lucky to be one ofe those in 27th lancer sopranos, all the way from Canada, I had to move there, and be a part of Lancers, 1979-1980, including the winter Olypics, at Lake Placid , N.Y.

@gjchaf2 Sorry it took me so long to reply back to you. I was a horn player with the corps in 1980 and 1981. These gals were "Rock Stars" of the Drum Corps World for sure that's a great compliment. I also became of a fan of the Corps in the early 70's when I marched with another local corps. George Zingali and Peggy Twiggs were the best! Along with some other incredible talented 27 alumni as well!

This is such an amazing piece of footage! Just beautiful! and a great piece of Lancer Nation History, but also Color Guard History as well. I love the rawness of it and the sound of the boots hitting the ground and the noise of those silks, and just how damn clean it is! So great to see George and Peggy in their element with their kids doing what the loved to do. Thanks for posting it and sharing it and saving it!
