Fever Pitch (1985) - A Terrible Film You Need to See
มุมมอง 11K15 ปีที่แล้ว
This hidden gem, the last film of Richard Brooks' otherwise illustrious career, is about as horrible a movie as you'll ever see in your entire life. And once you watch this movie, it attaches itself to your brain like a big sweaty barnacle. Please, MGM, release Fever Pitch on DVD! (This is an updated version with better text)
WEWS TV "Catch 5" Local News Promo from the 1970s
มุมมอง 124K18 ปีที่แล้ว
Between the psychedelic animation, goofy photo-flipbook effect, saccharine-sweet music, and the all-around goofy news team, this local news promo is everything the movie "Anchorman" should have been. (Stolen shamelessly from TV-Ark)
Mazes and Monsters - Tom Hanks' Phone Booth Scene
มุมมอง 39K18 ปีที่แล้ว
A clip from an early TV Movie starring a young Tom Hanks, in which his fascination with Role-Playing Games leads him down the toboggan ride to insanity. One thing you'll notice here is that, while the material is the worst sort of sensationalist panic-mongering, Hanks is actually pretty damned good even in this early performance. He's a great guy and this is not meant to make fun of him. Howeve...

I thought this movie was great
Was this intended as a comedy?
It was intended to have some comedic elements, but ultimately no. The parts that aren’t meant to be funny are funnier than the parts that are.

They are Great Boobs! I kept rewinding and starting over.
The opening of the greatest news program in the history of the world
THIS LOOKS HORRENDUS
How this masterpiece didn't get the Oscar, I'll never know! They were robbed.
JESUS LOVES YOU AND WE LOVE YOU TOO AMEN!!!
I have this on Video cassette. I liked it but my vcr broke. I can't find it on dvd anywhere.
I think the video was around 1972-1973. Looked forward to Fall season promotion of new shows. Before cable, satellite, or internet other than email.
n 1984 and 1985 I worked as a chip attendant at the Bicycle Club Card Casino in Bell Gardens, California. Many of the casino indoor scenes were filmed there at the five raise blind tables where I worked often. One day while I and a co-worker were on break, we decided to view the current film take at one of the tables with Ryan O'Neal. My co-worker was talking about what we thought Ryan's favorite color might be. Suddenly a really tall man (he was 6'7") standing close to us said "Blue, like his eyes." I asked him how he knew and he said he was Ryan's bodyguard. Then asked us both if we wanted to go see the powder blue shag carpeting walls in Ryan's tour bus. We did have a few minutes left on our break so we said yes. The bus was all blue! Even the ceiling and walls were covered with blue shag carpet and beveled mirrors. It was beautiful. When we returned, the bodyguard introduced us to Ryan. He said hello and had to leave to film more of the movie. Earlier that day, I was filmed walking from the cash cage down the hallway. I just downloaded the movie so I am going to watch it and see if I am in it. I should be in it several times and my friend Lori, who was a cocktail waitress with tux and tails, handed him a drink in the film at the casino table. I will never forget the experience.
That is an incredible story, thank you!
@@doctorsuarez Oh you are welcome. It was one of the most memorable experiences that I have had and I will never forget it!
There's gotta be something wrong with me! I see this movie all the time on VHS and love it. I live in Vegas and enjoy craps -- I've had plenty of losses and big wins as well. I've almost experienced every outcome as seen in this movie. It's very true to life. I'm still waiting for this movie to go to DVD. Richard Brooks was indeed a genius!
Terrible and enjoyable are not at all mutually exclusive.
At the end of the movie he bets a quarter and continue to play enough to win $89 K. That's not reality! That's a "Fairy Tale"! Not even Disney can come up with a "dream ending" light that!
you're wrong. I've gone on huge run ups from 10 dollars or less all the way up into six figures.@@arturovillaluz2053
I bet your best bet is for it being a vhs rip on a some torrent website. Anything that didn’t make it to dvd or even blue ray when that format peaked in the late 2000s, I’m not sure why they would now ?
fun facts in that dragon costume is Kevin peter hall he was also in misfits of science, the predator and harry and the Henderson's
I've ripped it from an old VHS into DVD if anyone wants to watch it
If it's true that Warner Bros owns the rights to this one, I want to see it on HBO Max or at the very least as a limited release DVD or Blu-Ray. I just have to see this movie now.
Same here. I’m usually pretty good at tracking down and obtaining lost or obscure movies, but this one is impossible 🤦♂️
Yes, its true. Because that's why AOL Time Warner owns the rights in 2002 after its 1992 limited re-release as a director's cut like Promises in the Dark, Farewell in the King, The Favor and There Goes My Baby, I want to see them again on TNT, Lifetime or Oxygen for the very least.
HBO pretty much seemed to unleash its entire catalogue in the late 2010s except for the stuff that they didn’t have complete ownership over like tales of thr crypt because they didn’t own the rights to some music, but if they didn’t show it back then I’m not sure why they would now ? They’re trying to cut costs like crazy
Does anyone have the one with the extended lyrics?
Man, another video I should have watched back in like '10 when I watched Spoony review this movie.
This movie screwed all the kids with gullible parents that believed the media’s D&D fear mongering.
This was Richard Brooks' final picture and sadly, he died in 1993. As of 1998, Warner Bros. owns the rights to this latter rather than anyone else.
Hugs and kisses. LIES.
I gotta see this. Quentin Tarantino is a fan.
.. gave 2 geart gamblin scenes. The one with the moneyrunner song and the 'grand finale..Anyone know movies with great gambling scenes that i missed in the years? Hard eight has a few but more subdue, if that is the word :)
I love that dialogue. It's like awkward beat poetry.
I'm a day player in the game of life.
I got this ripped from vhs. I can send a link you can watch and download for a few dollars
Hi Harris. I'm very interested in watching it. How much do I have to pay for it?
I'll cashapp or venmo you. Let me know.
Hey, do you still have the copy of this by any chance?
its free in the internet archive database... look it up!@@benraine919
O god if i remember correctly Ryan O'Neal received a razzie for his performance in this film i'd rather watch the good fever pitch movie starring Drew Barrymore and Jimmy Fallon
Oh God...Oh Man...Oh God...Oh Man... Ryan and the Razzies Collection. now I need to watch this movie. I loved this trailer.
That's pretty badass when you realize a knife only does 1d2 damage.
John Hambrick was the oldest of three brothers. Judd and Mike were also anchor men in major markets and I believe I heard that during their careers they were ALL on the air at the same time in Dallas at different stations. Which ment if you were going to watch the evening news in Dallas you were going to watch 1 of the Hambrick brothers.
Anyone know WHO did this jingle ??
Frank Gari
I'm having a flashback. Where's my Ghoulardi plush doll?
Remember kids, don’t take drugs before a RPG session!
discovered this when going thru some old videos - you know the keep / throw out thing. i got 10 minutes of it b4 the tape ran out. now where in the hell - other then ebay - can i get a copy of this?
John Hambrick was at KBMT 12 the ABC affiliate in Beaumont Texas for a while.......he died of cancer a few years ago...RIP John....good anchor huh??????!!!!!
Do not make some lot of noise in this church! Be quiet in this church! Speak nicely to our friends in the classroom! Do not curse to our friends in the classroom! Do not drop your food on the floor! Do not throw your food on the floor! Do not look at our friend's food in the food court! Do not steal our food from our friends in the food court! Do not punch our friends outside at the park! Do not kick our friends outside at the park! Do not hit our friends outside at the park! Do not take your clothes off in front of our friends outside at the park! Stand up and push your chair in the large table in the classroom! Pull your chair out of the large table and sit down on the chair at the large table in the classroom! Do not put your feet up on the large table in the classroom! Take your feet down off the large table in the classroom! Keep your feet down on the floor! Stay in your seat and do not get up off the chair in the classroom!
"It makes no difference who you are..... the world is YOURS when you catch 5..." corny but good. I remember this and Hambrick... and Don Webster with dark hair... Fuldheim was tooooo much, she didn't suffer fools. Back when news was serious.
How old is he here yet sound EXACTLY the same lol
my dad actually found me and my friends playing and freaked out and made us stop. man they were so scared and brainwashed back then by media reports we were worshiping the devil, then he bought me a commodore 64 and i played rpg's non stop and he was none the wiser. stupid parents.
WEWS was North East Ohio's ABC affiliate. I was in grade school when this promo came out. I thought it was SO groovy! And it still kind of is!
This happened every time we tried to play D&D
still better than no mans sky
"What the fuck is that, the fuck is that, that that....that....that".
Ok, so there was some cheesy acting & the soundtrack was bad disco but the main theme instrumental made you actually want to go gamble.....hahaha. I thought it was an entertaining movie.
I don't know why this movie hasn't been acknowledged for what it really is: the "Reefer Madness" of geekdom. "Beware the sacrilege!"
Long live the First Pokemon Hunter!
What happened to the audio in the end?
Weird. It didn't do that when I uploaded it ages ago. Will look into it.
Have you looked into it?
?
Someone cast 'Silence 15' Radius.'
I had such a crush on John Hambrick....such wonderful memories.
"There's blood on my knife! I think I killed someone! I know I killed someone!"
even legends have to start from the bottom.
+echolot Tom hasn't had the perfect movie career everyone thinks... does anyone remember "Joe vs the volcano"? LOL
