BTW, No doubt the Canadian Armed forces knows a lot about cold weather military training. BUT the Canadian "army" is so tiny =, even in relation to Canada's small population, that it would be laughable if it were not so sad. CANADA NEEDS TO BUILD A MILITARY FROM AT LEAST 2% OF ITS GDP, NOTTHECURRENT 1.25%. As a NATO nationCanada is a SLACKER of the first order.

It's ironic the Army Mountain Warfare School is in Vermont since they really don't have any real mountains there, just big hills.

I do not understand the lack of grooming regulations. Why have standards fallen with bearded soldiers?

Snowmobiles, tents, stoves, hot meals provided, medical care/ evacuation at the ready and having everything you need brough to you/provided is not survival, its endurance ..

How can bearded soldiers be combat effective???????

That big .50 BMG may someday soon be replaced by a SIG .338 Norma magnum heavy machine gun. Same max range but FAR lighter and still capable of anti-materiel use. BTW-> The Canadian Armed Forces winter sleep system is unique and worth a look. "There is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing." (Norwegian saying)

I am a vermonter and plan on joining the national guard, I'm actually a boyscout so I will get instantly promoted, and we also had some military events with boyscouts like we went to a military fort one time, had a black hawk come to boyscout camp, went into the national guard base at Burlington International Airport, we have 2 scout masters/ex scout masters who are military

LOL , US reserve Guard Units are better equipped than full time regular Canadian units in Canada’s Arctic. If Canadians are serious they need to up their game , get survivable Arctic equipment for their regular force instead of sponging off the US National Guard. US has Arctic training out Wainwright , Alaska and Mountain Division.

A jrtc rotation during July /August is no joke! Plus the oct’s are ruthless but very knowledgeable. Just drink water and stay motivated. Don’t forget to pack extra tobacco even if you don’t smoke cuz you will or dudes will run out and will buy a pack for $20 or more… I’ve seen it. Lol
