Very Informative session.
Start with what's easy fixed get the numbers down while studying the problem.
Comes back to being like ur girlfriend cheating on u.
A good boss is allowed to tell u to get a move on with gusto.
I have a touch of autism. A good friend once said to me. U see things we dont & we see things u dont.
When they run out of options they ask me. I dont know everything it is possible for other ppl to have better ideas. But 90% of the time im right. Just like sherlock holmes wasnt always right but they didnt jail & drug him coz his hunch was wrong.
Meritocracy. Being reasonable with ppl.
If u reward ppl for good perfomance ppl will want to perform.
Really needed this. Thanks!
This is where the problem lies. Because someone has been doing something for 30 or 40 years doesnt mean there are no better ways of doing the same thing. Sometimes dad's can be extremely stubborn and hate being told there is a better way. I am not saying one should be disrespectful, but it can be extremely difficult to bring change in a family business. Comfort brings contentment that leads to stagnation. A lot of the most successful business were taken to the highest levels by the children or child who inherited their father's businesses.
The Role of a Foreskin with Jason Schredder
Morning Hate-Mail to my client. This is the real-time, end-result of ignoring EVERY basic lesson you can find in any one of these videos and it is universal for any code of scopes: Gentlemen, I started this email chain yesterday, in an attempt to avoid this email today. I am going to approach this in the most professional way possible and explain a perspective you may not be seeing. It is not written in malice or anger, but should be considered a stern warning that this relationship is stressed.... It has taken years to assemble a dynamic painting crew that have a solid skillset, coupled with a great attitude and clean background. These are family people. It takes a lot of resources to onboard, train and equip them for the diversity needed in a very lean and fast paced shop like mine. I care about my staff and their needs because without them, I do not have a business at all. ECSW, in just the last week, has mobilized to 3 separate projects, working both day and night, that were not ready, despite being rapidly dispatched by a GC, and instructed to hurry because an important deadline was approaching. Your *** project alone consists of 3 separate visits alone, yielding the same. As a result, one of our newer, promising painters quit after learning he would not get his 40 hours and would have to make it up on a weekend. I get that. It is difficult to quantify what this costs me in simple dollars and cents. In tandem, ECSW pays the opportunity cost of stacking a delayed project (yours) in the same window of a scheduled project (the next one, for another client) and now with one less staff member to pull the weight, as well as the impact to my own time, in vetting and interviewing another new-hire to maintain our production, our promises. So to mitigate future losses, I, as the owner, promised my crew to be paid for their 8 hours each for the first failed mobilization, thinking it would be an isolated event. Here we are again. We understand that delays happen and with just a bit of notice, we can shift and adapt. What we can NOT have, is my painters showing up for a 4th time, without a plan, space or a schedule when you have hired supers on site, receiving intel in real-time. It is unacceptable at any level of construction management. This shall be notice that you are currently in material breach of your own contractual agreement encompassing the duties to both your client, and to ECSW. In its current state, ECSW will not indemnify *** or honor any level of shared risk verbiage, should there be any damages whatsoever. The remedy is rather simple: A communicated schedule. An extension of our duration by 3 business days. 2 mobilizations of 4 painters for 3 hours each in the amount of $1848 "If" it is your desire to carry this project into the weekend, it will be so on an OT/premium condition and I suggest the arrangements are made ASAP as we are not "on-call." Time is of the essence. I want to assure you that our demeanor is calm and professional. We intend to honor our agreement and the completion of scope, but we need a proactive solution other than sitting on our hands hoping the adjacent trades gets done so that we can occupy the same space and finish this project. I know we can do better. Regards,
From the perspective of a trade partner, sub, You aren't just losing money if you can not manage your flow. You will lose quality subs and clients because they will not tolerate your ineffective organization, or their exposure to losses of any kind. Word gets out. The reality is, as the prime contractor, you must absolutely own the leadership roles of the organizer, communicator, QAQC and financier. When you do not, you are in material breach of your own contract, nullifying it entirely. I.E.- You can not hold a sub responsible for being behind, if you did not communicate a schedule with milestones they need to hit. You can not deny mobilization, if you did not communicate that it was NOT ready. You can not deny a CO to re-work everything if you did not ensure QAQC the scopes during the flow. You can not claim indemnification, when you are designing the failures across the board through your own inaction or ignorance to the industry standards. I have often wondered while in the field "Who trained you" (when meeting a PM or Super, in regards to sequencing and flow) and the reality is, NOBODY. They were likely a quality craftsman that was promoted at some point with a presumption that they know their way around a site and they are a bit over their head. Adversely to that, we encounter many college trained types that are a whiz with a spreadsheet and pretty flowcharts, but have absolutely zero field experience on how to navigate site problems in real-time, especially in regards to conflicts or jobsite dynamics. Its funny, "So, what's your flow?" Is one of the first questions my super asks after the introduction pleasantries. If they don't have one, it is also the first chance for conflict. Bloated egos will absolutely derail this discussion. I believe a pre-con meeting is one of the most crucial and neglected phases of the process.
I liken it to watching little league soccer matches vs an Olympic team: Little league has all the kids on the team running with the ball falling all over each other. Total chaos. Professionals have a play to run, because they watched the tape of the last game and learned from their blind spots, and they have learned to trust their peers will be where they say they will be, and pass the ball all the way down the field to kick one in for the win. Trade stacking is Mickey Mouse BS, and everyone hates you for it. There is ALWAYS a better way than having no plan at all.
Question: how to “unlearn” bad habits from great people.. Guess it’s time to create the policies and procedures- who knew financial and positive incentives would be ineffective.. better to take action now before letting bad behaviors affect the other staff. Got to remember youngbloodz in this situation.. gratitude
I got a trade am qualified cant put up with the industry & the life

❤ great video
It’s crazy that I came across this video. I’m currently looking to be part of a field engineering program so I can them become a great super. I have yet to find a company that offers that here in Los Angeles. There are so many job opportunities for superintendents (based on my job search) but no programs to build the future Supers
life changing advice and wisdom

9:00 "they'll take my customers" yes and no. at that point there's a difference between operations and sales. treating your teammates properly can retain your members amicably, but you can't control everyone's personal motivations. your customer's are your customers and treating them properly has more loyalty for brand service. if you're worried about your customers leaving, treat your customers better.
6:30 I’m not sure that’s healthy. Not everything is your fault. The most difficult is to fight your subordinates for their own good. I try to imagine myself on a battlefield. I’d listen to dissenting views but we would not have time for debates. If I were still convinced that my decision is the right one, I’d probably tell them ‘I think that we need to do this, and we don’t have time to measure our dicks right now. I’d rather have you hate me than have you killed. Not on my fucking watch. Cause it would make me lose sleep and I need my beauty sleep. Move your arse NOW!’
5:50 Bingo! That’s exactly it. Fuck making a good impression. Actions speak louder than words. I could put up with a boss who dislikes me but lets me do the things I need to do. Not nice, cause I like to be liked, but hey- ho. At least that would be something. But being disliked AND not achieving anything is shit.
4:16 Indeed, let the fool take all the credit. Your satisfaction is that you’ve achieved what needed to be done. But what if your boss gives you an order that would be detrimental for your people/ team? There are limits to kissing arse. What if, even after you praise and let your boss take all the credit and more, he will just not budge? You end up in the Martial Court AND your people will be slaughtered because of your boss’ stubborn idiocy. Will any of your people stand up for the right decision and you? Maybe- in your line of work. Not mine. It’s a losing game. It’s a form of torture.
Best leader I've ever seen.
I LOVE INTERSTELLAR TOO
Beautyful insights
Thank you for this lecture. Very informative and practically feasible.
You can't generalize a entire generation however you can statistically say that the majority of millennials want something for nothing Just like you can't say all baby boomers had it made in a great time of economic stability I can wholeheartedly say my father who is a boomer was raised in a low income household with an abusive stepfather so I'll say Millennials and Gen Z don't want to work and expect to get jobs as content creators etcetera and then what ends up happening is nothing in society is getting done because no necessary jobs are being done in example Teachers we already see what has been happening in the school systems because of what the liberal minded millennials that are teaching these days what's going to happen when no one wants to do it at all Waste management if no one does it imagine how littered our society would become Imagine no police force some people would claim that anarchy is the ideal society any man for themselves but these people usually never have lived in an actual society without law and order Imagine how many people will die without doctors and nurses And it's all because no one wants to work anymore
Great video, thank you!
Cadbury book on bizzness history.
i watched this and now I can't unsee it. Up on a ladder scraping paint and one of the boards is rotted and needs replacing...variation delays completion. Finish as you go = less ladder placements. Brilliant! I'm glad I scouted the job beforehand and had pre-primed siding on hand. Work flows; everybody glad-hands the labor, only a few clear the decks for the crews. We could all use more training. 😎
I see from your surroundings that you’re currently incarcerated. Where are you filming? I love your content keep it coming and thanks Jason!!

This was great…Just great. 👍👍
I gave my foremen the ability to create their own plans as long as they were signed off by myself and they have never been more productive!
Sometimes the ideas are better, and they save time, money, and your knees. The important part, is working WITH your dad, not against him, and not working for a BOSS who doesn't listen or is unwilling to try new things.
Lead. Win.
This guy is an asshole. He's never been a carpenter or a builder and has no clue.
Good content in this channel, but a terribly loud intro. Seriously, if you can, cut it out, it makes it all worse than worthless.👎
