Contact Shots with Taclights
Video is a reminder about close quarter/contact shooting. I used to believe having a Taclight on my handgun would prevent it from going out of battery. Once I tried it, it was not hard to push the muzzle out of battery. We've had several local OIS where officers were not able to discharge their duty weapons a close contact distance. One included a trooper struggling over a suspect's gun, drew his duty weapon and tried to shoot the suspect. It did not fire, so he threw it to ground and drew his backup weapon, it also wouldn't fire! He realized he had pushed both weapons out of battery pushing them into the suspect. He pulled his back weapon away from the suspect and what able to fire a round, ending the confrontation.

      The camera was a X2 insta360. The amazon 360 webcam works event better at a quarter of the price. www.amazon.com/j5create-Degree-Around-Meeting-Webcam/dp/B08MYZWX87/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=3E392HO8LXTV4&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.D_IAhxwQcigukgdQ1ImR6rjVDOBFYTwfw1rGo0jhVyQoXtfPuIuZkS2c5eNDTw00u12sbaHLp1Tc7SCcv-auhJ__6dNwTiDhEBj1oKPL1RXi0x_F6GI_OnZI5f11FOPtXEFoXM3idjs-ITODt_VJjuPiVg0dsL452VjJpSIG7PYTBcnYC8p-TBYKkuSpwBfU2x3j6is2kMJVyAYruLGEhG4GCEADWK9csUTzhY26Yz8.Wk1GjEYIWXvyzHgzqKJZ9z1QIHfBFL4r041lTSb9xfk&dib_tag=se&keywords=360+webcam&qid=1711421640&sprefix=360+web%2Caps%2C906&sr=8-1-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGY&psc=1 Hook it up like a regular webcam. You can adjust different setting for the field of view you want. Camera is $85 on amazon. Hopefully I can do a full tutorial video on it soon!

    Probably Axon has lightened the pulse parameters in this civilian model to make the 30 s ride survivable. For the X26 or 7 models such long exposures are considered too dangerous and prohibited.

    S&W J frame in appendix holster... lighting fast. Move off the 'X' while drawing (for the attacker it is hard to change course while running.) If you have no weapon yourself still move forward at an oblique angle and grab him so he cannot use that hammer! Two things not to do... just stand there or backpedal.

  • @hamiltoda
    @hamiltoda 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Another reason for common sense hammer control. Nobody needs a hammer like that.

  • @JNacoustic

      It's all about protecting the gun from being grabbed by the bad guy. The stats show that most attackers come at you from within 5 feet, where they can grab you and your gun. If they grab your gun, at best, it will malfunction and they'll have leverage equal to or better than your grip. At worse, they'll get it away from you altogether. The original counter was to grab the front (slide) of the gun yourself. This keeps you in control of the gun, but the gun will still malfunction after one shot. So, you had to shoot once, create space with your elbows, clear the jam and then shoot again. With the Combat Shroud, you can use the same technique to control the gun and counter with your elbows, but the gun never malfunctions. So, you have the whole magazine to solve the problem, rather than having to clear the gun after every single shot. Does that make sense?

    Hollywood has done little to boost the confidence of the Taser, either showing someone getting knocked out when they're tased or totally incapacitated. The Taser is just another proverbial tool for the toolbox that provides an officer with something other than lethal force when trying to capture a dangerous felon. Gulla leads the Defensive Tactics world with what he's doing.

    Great video analysis. I notice that he pulls back the slide (2:18 for example). Isn't it "Israeli style" to not have a round in the chamber? Would that have something to do with him naturally turning to the left, because he couldn't immediately fire over his right shoulder?

    All very convenient. But cops don't get "slomo", or "stop-action", or endless "rewinds". They get ONE CHANCE, FOR ONE SECOND, AND IF IT'S WRONG THEY DIE. Interesting, how many people feel qualified to judge them, in a situation that THEY WILL NEVER HAVE TO FACE, THEMSELVES. Be thankful that YOU don't have to make 'life-or-death' choices for a living.

    Don Gulla is a leading Master Defensive Tactics Instructor appreciated world-wide by those who prefer application over theory. The Russians, and so many others, want to know if something actually works, so they often bring their A-game to the mat. Gulla's innovations are respected by those by Rener Gracie of the famed BJJ family who adopted Gulla's G-WRAPS (Gulla's Weapon Retention and Positional Shooting) handgun protection method that gives the user a better way not only to protect the weapon against an opponent but a better way to hold onto it in an actual fight. Gulla's a former AAU Junior Olympic Gold Medal winner in Judo, a 5-time Gold Medeal winner in the World Police & Fire Games, and the founder of the Arrestling fighting system. I consider myself fortunate to have been on his team for 19 years.
