    I live in Nepal where this is my view whenever the sky is clear. I found John Miur Laws while trying to plan a nature club for local youth. I am so excited about beginning my own nature journaling with these young people, and am so grateful for your teaching. I just wanted you to know how far your impact has reached! All the way to Macchupuchchhre! And yes, that painting captures it incredibly!

    I am so confused as to how you can add that water after the paint layers are put down (to create the milky way). WHY doesn't it create a bloom? I'm always afraid to add more water for this reason!

    • @TheFosterMuseum
      @TheFosterMuseum 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Nicole, sorry for getting to your comment so late! Here's from Mattias: "I totally get that fear! The tricks are in making sure the first layer(s) are fully dry before putting any further layers on top (called glazing), AND in making sure you don't completely drench the work with the next layers. You should always be trying to work wet to dry. Also, when glazing in this way be sure not to brush the artwork too much in any one spot because you risk lifting up the former layers of watercolor paint. Just gently lay on your layer and let it be. This sounds like a lot of things to avoid-trust me it becomes more intuitive with practice. And in the worst case, if you create a bloom, just go with it and turn it into some rad celestial phenomena in your sky! Good luck!"

    Kristin Poole does an excellent job of diving deep into Foster's work. She depicts an artist who brings the wilderness to us not only through his stunning artworks but also through the record of experience with his souvenirs, maps, and diary entries. This presentation is multisensor as she reads through the artist's inscriptions, I felt like I was there on the journey with Tony Foster. Well done!
