      Watching it back, that was a rather sloppy comment. Apologies. I will do a separate ADHD episode. In short, ADHD can have a sensory component, as with ASD, and those diagnosed with Autism are often co-diagnosed with ADHD. So, there is an overlap. This is more accurate! Although, not the whole story. Thanks for watching and commenting! Really appreciate the question.

    Well done guys, great insight into Autism and what you went through and still are. Made me think about things I do which could be questionable, like number patterns, planning things so I don’t get any surprises. Might be seen as a bit OCD by some. Looking forward to a follow up.

      I think everyone wants to feel a level of control over their environment, direction, influences. Even the most confident people often have (for example) a perfectly ordered wardrobe, with crisply ironed shirts ironed 'the best way', or hung in order of colour, or can't have shoes left on the floor, or hate crumbs on the bench and feel compelled to clean them NOW. It's all a matter of degrees, and ironically, the control of those controlling impulses. It can also be a difference in neurology vs psychology. For example: are you wired for it, or did an event cause it? Definitely doing more. It has been our most viewed episode! It felt good to talk about it, too.

    You have to make your way to hospital, ambulance anything from 4-12 hours. If you lucky . It’s all by design, forcing us to go private, privatisation through back door . Recruiting is still big problem

    • @loosegadgies
      @loosegadgies 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This is something we've been wondering: is it by design? But, which is worse: being gradually encouraged to go private, or that we have lost so much trust we're willing to believe/suspect our Gov't would do it? Yep. Recruiting and retention are a big problem. Someone needs to have the balls to wade in and make big changes.

    There does need to be some serious readjustment to the NHS. When I started investigating my toe problem (this has been a problem most of my life but getting worse all the time), I had little trouble getting a GP appointment, X-ray the next day, and the hospital rushed the result through within 2 days. GP decision was for me to visit orthopaedic clinic. Waited for 3 weeks without notice of an appointment, rang up to be told the letter hadn’t been typed. When the appointment came it was moved 3 times. Who knows how long a surgery appointment would take, so decided to go private. Should have done that at the beginning, everything went smoothly, care and aftercare were amazing. I had private medical insurance when I worked but have had 2 private operations in the last 10 years, both because the NHS waiting time was too long, for which I have paid. I feel the older you get the less they are inclined to treat you. Just a personal opinion.

    • @loosegadgies
      @loosegadgies 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's weird. I would've assumed the opposite is true: the older you get the higher your priority. I often feel it needs to be ran more like a business than a service. Perhaps have someone from the private sector take over a hospital and make an example of it.

    In recent news an accountant was fooled into attending an online meeting with her senior management team. It resulted in 200 million of transfers being made. The issue was the whole meeting was a scam using AI to replicate voices and faces of the management team. This got me to thinking that I could in effect load my own personality and image, training the AI. This would mean I would never leave my better half alone after my own demise. In response I was told "well at least AI would have an off button"...love is 😋

    Your dad quit due to his own principals (well done, him) and then the conversation moved to "Why do you stay loyal to a company.?"...for money. I have finally had the correct impact into your world view 😉 You are not working for a corporate entity, only a collection of people who decide your value. Contracts are a set value that purchases your own time. Careers are an approximation of how you use that time. You are valuable right up until the point when you are no longer required. Love life, love your family and friends. Love your job, seek immediate professional help. The threads of reality are unwinding and rapidly slipping away from you.

    Great content. My only form of exercise is walking and it has been very noticeable that on holiday, in the sun, my ability to walk is greatly increased and helps to balance my intake of “treats” and local delicacies. I usually come home with just a couple of pounds gained, which is easily manageable. At home I love to cook, I love variety but always on plan. It took many, many years to get to this point, but it’s never too late to wake up and smell the coffee (that’s a black Americano - calory (syn) free).

      So many say that warmth helps with mobility, and even move abroad in later years because of it. Stable and healthy weight loss is a time investment. I can’t remember having an Advent calendar. Mam used to buy cheap chocolate anyway, so best not to have one. On charity giving, I donate to a local one that supplies Christmas dinner to the homeless, also meals and other basics through the year, and to a local food bank. I remember what a struggle Christmas was, wouldn’t have managed without my parent’s help.

    • @loosegadgies

      Donating towards Christmas dinners and food banks is a great idea. I'm relying a lot on my parents this year with contracting the way it is - solving that problem shortly, fingers crossed. Not sure where I'd be without them, at times. Interesting that a time about giving is also a time when some struggle the most. Seems counterintuitive, and I'm not sure what that says about it.

    • @loosegadgies

      My mam was the same. No selection boxes before dinner! She used to make her own xmas pud, and 'feed it' in the lead up to Christmas day with brandy and whatnot, and let it mature in a tin. Boxing Day was always at my Aunty's house for Christmas buffet.

  • @RoseMaryHalliwell
    @RoseMaryHalliwell ปีที่แล้ว

    Christmas should be a time of peace and goodwill, a family get together, not speeding around the shops buying useless gifts, food you probably won’t eat, and spending money you cannot afford. Even worse, feeling you must get the latest this or that for little Johnny and getting into debt for the next 6-12 months. Mind, I have been there and done that, but you get older and wiser, which is why I do what pleases me at Christmas, and go on holiday. 😁

    • @loosegadgies
      @loosegadgies ปีที่แล้ว

      All good points. We conflate presents with goodwill. If we have skills, we could just ask if someone needs something doing, and do it for free for xmas. It does make me question the 'presents for xmas' charities. They only need presents because we decided that's what we do at Christmas. You could, instead, offer to cook, buy shopping, fill petrol, buy school books, paint & decorate... Offer a service someone needs, but can't afford.

    I vote, only because this was fought for us many moons ago. Who I vote for is never cut and dried. Charisma of the leader is one factor, also how the local council has performed. So, when my postal vote arrives it’s weighing up these factors, or, like my nana used to pick a horse in The Grand National, stick a pin in it.

    • @loosegadgies
      @loosegadgies ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes! Exactly my point: it isn't, and probably shouldn't be, a cut and dry process. We're never presented with exact opposites, character/charisma matters, we're told background (thanks to news media) matters (e.g. self-made or inherited wealth). If a leader has an opposing view on a subject we hold dear, this can stop us voting for that whole party, even we agree on 99 things and disagree on this 1 alone. We're human: emotion is hard to remove from debate. We should all appreciate, and execute, this right. You'd miss it if it was gone.

  • @RoseMaryHalliwell

    I enjoyed the Twix analogy, I can relate to that, but being the pacifist I am, I totally am against conflict, but understand it can be necessary. Another reason why I don’t watch or listen to media, is it’s biased, far from truthful and causes more problems than can be solved.

    • @loosegadgies
      @loosegadgies ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree. Sometimes the discussion of the problem causes further problems. The advent of 24 hour/all day news channels has likely exacerbated this by needing to find/pad/stretch content with the 1000's of subject matter/political commentators.

    As I shop online I don’t see yellow labels. Just as well as then my meal planning would be compromised, and I couldn’t handle that. On the subject of emails and texts, I can’t use one word if 20 will do. I put in detail that is irrelevant and far from the point I want to make. I set the scene for everything so it would probably be better to phone.

    • @loosegadgies

      Full punctuation, spelling and grammar in my texts. No excuse when every phone has a QWERTY keyboard these days. However, I've learned to condense the content - too much detail, and many people wouldn't read any of it at all. It's a balance of detail vs a chore to read. Totally agree regarding respect for your elders and not questioning. This has been discussed with you, Mark, but being brought up in a particular religion, I believed everything that was taught to me (I was brainwashed, if you like). It was only when someone came into my life with a different point of view and questioned my beliefs, that I realised they were not feasible or true. This could be applied to so many other facets of my life.

      I still need to get into the air fried toast! Vesta sounds familiar, for some reason. I can't remember what Marmite tastes like these days. Although, isn't that what they put on Twiglets?

    Very interesting about the reading styles. I mostly speed read, which I didn’t realise I was doing. Probably why I get through so many books. Thanks for that. 👍

    Hello Si and Bro. I’m not answering to anyone. So yes, I spent around £200 on our stag night out. Loved every minute I can remember. Lol. Was a great night.

      I like the qualification you added to that sentence "every minute I can remember". 😂 Brilliant. You're a legend. 👍
