I am a big fan of boar knots. They are my favorite, in fact. I think (just my opinion) that wet shavers shy away from boar knots. I can only guess that it is due to break-in period or the scratchiness but I could be very wrong. Boar is just my preference. Have a great rest of the week.

After about 45 years of using a cartridge razor and electric razor, I made the switch to a double edge (DE) razor. My first DE razor was a Henson AL13 Mild. The transition was a breeze. I will never buy a razor with proprietary blades.

Well, I wasn't sure if you were going to like it after you first got the Element and really give it a fair chance. In my mind, I don't think of it any differently than any of my other razors in my collection, though it is up there with some of my favorites that I use. I will say that it jumped up the ladder when they came out with the new blade, because I would barely use it before. I've missed out on some good deals on the Genesis over the years, that I won't pass up on now for sure. It's very well finished out like a lot of the high-end razors and reminds me of a piece of art with the stand. I've really been enjoying the shave with the custom Speedster that I built and the Enders style handle, is a perfect fit with the Hybrid head. It changes the feel of the razor, giving it some nice ergonomics and it's something I could see them doing something like it in a special edition Genesis.Take care!

Looking fresh without the goatee Mike. I bought a Core when they 1st came out, initially I didn't like it but after sometime, got to learn its characteristics, different blade feel to a DE, and started to enjoy it and get BBS shaves, great little razor for the price. The Genesis however, is pricey IMHO and so will stick to the Core which is in the weekly rotation. I need to pick up some of the new blades and guve them a go, even though I have no problem with the Feather blades they initially came with. Excellent review Mike! I mentioned before that I enjoyed the core so much I bought a Genesis. I agree the carbon blades are smoother and last longer! I have used it daily and experienced consistent performance. Very comfortable shave without irritation while using longer strokes like a cartridge razor. Great recommendation!

Happy holidays. I use the genesis almost daily. With the carbon blades I get about a weeks worth of shaves. What is the cube you used prior? I don’t think about the flexing head as the weight of it engages the head for me. I can occasionally get a weeper or two if not careful. I haven’t tried the crème yet or the balm but when I run out of soap I’ll order some

It looks like a very impressive/interesting razor. I am from the US but was “forced” into going to SE/DE/Str8 razors living overseas for many years. At that time in history, there were few choices of razors/blades/soaps. I would have enjoyed many of the options we have today. Thank you for bringing these options to the attention of those considering becoming true shavers 😊.

Nice! A&E makes awesome stuff and I'm looking forward to the Matcha soap review. I've often thought about getting the sister scent to Kalifa, Chasing the Dragon which has more asian influence. Looks like a great razor and having done research z mack, I'm sure it will last forever. There's a bunch of different kinds of z mack and most are nothing like the vintage stuff the would deteriorate. Nice shave and I hope you have a great weekend!

Teak, Cedar, and Sandalwood combine so well together and make such a full and enveloping fragrance. It does sound nice! Great calendar! This year it felt like there was a real synergy between artist, creators, and cadets, making for magical shared experience. I can bet that next year it will be even bigger, from how it went this year, with more people wanting to get in on the festivities. It's a lot of work for everybody, but I think it really lifted people's spirits this year. Thank you for all your hard work and thoughts on the calendar scents. You really had some great insights and that added a nice perspective to all other creators takes on the scents. You did change my impression on more than one scent! I hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas!

Knowing you’re not crazy about florals, I was worried for you on this one. But with the other notes, especially the tobacco, I was pretty confident you’d end up liking it! So complex and well balanced! I’ve been so happy with everything. Tomorrow’s might be my favorite!🤓
