Triumph Stag Headrest Removal & Refurbishment.
Showing the removal of the headrest, emptying of old foam and refilling with new. Using readily available upholstery foam (1" thick, about £6 per sheet) as opposed to the commercially produced foam inserts. Only special tool you will need to complete the job is a staple gun. This process may also apply to other Triumphs of the era (eg Spitfire and the TR range) and probably other classics fitted with headrests. Hope you find the video helpful if attempting this job.

    Does the thread wear out on the vertical link, at any point?

    • @laurelgreentriumph
      @laurelgreentriumph 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The threads don't usually wear on the vertical link, because the trunnion is a softer metal so wears first. However vertical links have been known to snap at the threads mainly because of water ingress and rusting leading to failure. Another reason to keep the trunnions oiled and the seals replaced!

    Excellent. Rebuilding my GT6 suspension and this is a great help.

      So glad it helped! Remember to leave the final tightening of all the bolts until the car is back on the ground (with body on etc) to ensure the car sits properly. good luck!

    Hi great video, when you screw the new trunnion on how far do you screw it on if you get me - manual says enough to achieve lock to lock steering but roughly how many turns off of fully tight is that approx

    • @laurelgreentriumph
      @laurelgreentriumph 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes you've found the important bit in that the steering must be free to travel from lock to lock, so "backing off" one complete turn would be enough to achieve this. I cant think you'd want any more than this, but its been a while since I did this job so anyone else feel free to chip in!

      @@laurelgreentriumph I think some people say 1.5 turns but logically I think one turn would be plenty and equal on each side would be fine - going to renew both at the same time

    • @laurelgreentriumph
      @laurelgreentriumph 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@metalman7806 yes I wouldn't argue with 1.5 turns but you wouldn't want any more.

    Handy video, you forget how useful headrests are on a car from a safety point, always aware when you drive an older without headrests and seat belts!

    Yes but what if companies prefer to use their agency preferred suppliers to find them contractors?

    • @laurelgreentriumph
      @laurelgreentriumph 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Some companies will prefer the old way of doing things, its true. We are trying to highlight that there is a wave of new companies out there quite happy to engage directly with contractors, including consultancies, start-ups and some of the more "traditional" hirers. A lot of contractors have had bad experiences with agencies, and at last there is another route to hiring for them.

      @@laurelgreentriumph I have had shocking experiences with agencies and to the point of frustration. Advertising of false positions to just obtain your CVs or they well try and speculate you to companies for a quick commission. They don't care about candidates, they only care about money. I ran a recruitment business from for 2 years so I know it well.
