How To Release Drawer Slides | 4 Types
In this video, I would like to show you how to release and remove 4 different drawer slides. These four types of drawer slides are the most common in Europe.
The first is ball-bearing slides. These exist in several versions, but as far as disassembly is concerned, they are all based on the same principle. Pull the drawer out as far as it goes, press the lever on both sides, and pull the drawer out of the slides.
The second is soft-close drawers. This can be a little tricky sometimes. Some have levers underneath, some have levers on the sides under the screw cap, and some drawer slides have to be pulled aside and then pull up the drawer.
The third is under-mount drawer slides for wooden drawers. These are also removed by two levers under a drawer and the drawer must be pulled up.
To return these 3 types of drawer slides, back to the same position, place a drawer on the slides, pull back the slides until you hear a locking mechanism click, then push the drawer to a closed position.
The fourth is the roller slide. The slides are basically just pulled out and up.
You can find different types of drawer slides in the link below.

BOOK LIGHT DIY - SWING ARM

I wondered If it was possible to make a Swing-Arm Booklight from wood. I wondered if it can be made as thin as possible and still sturdy. It came out better than I thought. The only thing I would change if I were to make it again is that I would use steel pins instead of wooden dowels. Steel pins would allow more fluid movement. And I would be more precise when drilling. :) This Book Light is m...

Just watched this. Almost exactly what I wanted to make, so thanks. Found two old pieces of 'scrap' wood that someone gave me. After sanding turned out to be solid oak!. That will make a nice finish. Any recommendations for surface finishing of this wood, so I don't obscure the lovely grain and colour? Dont like clear laquer. Would prefer some form of oil/wax

Thank you. Good, oak is the king of wood. I am still using Danish Oil by Rustins for the majority of my small interior projects. It is almost transparent, not oily, antistatic (no dust),... I apply it twice or three times.

This is a terribly made jig with massive tolerances and a poorly cast comb with recesses that vary from less than half an inch to over 7/16", even when the poor casting and paint is cleaned up with a razor blade and file. None of the guides are even close to being adjustable to square, at maximum adjustment they're probably 87 degrees at best, which means you cannot repeat set ups quickly and easily. The locking nut inserts which hold the workpiece in place have to be manually filed down to actually lock. When it's finally set up perfectly, you repeat with another four dovetails and not only will the comb move all over the place, because of the tolerances in the locking slide nuts, but the offsets between the two matching pieces can be wildly out by as much as 4mm, probably because the guides are unable to be adjusted to be square. Basically it takes the same time to produce dovetails by hand which are more accurate, which basically renders this jig utterly useless out of the box, unless you completely reengineer it yourself. My comb looks no where near as cleanly or accurately cast as the one of the video, so either the quality control is rubbish or Silverline made an extra special effort to afford a half decent jig for this video review. I chucked my jig in the bin. Best place for it. The one you'll actually receive is the one pictured in the last photo, it's completely different lol. In fairness though, once I took a sledgehammer to it and straightened the 2mm steel base to something that vaguely represented a 90 degree angle where the workpieces meet, ground down the guides so they were nearer square, ground down the locking nuts so everything would lock off and filed out the comb so it was vaguely consistent, it did do vaguely consistent dovetails. I mean worse than paint grade, but to be honest, I couldn't be arsed after that.
