I do not miss Connie, as when he passed he became part of me, both as a brother and a student of Tian Lung (Chien Lung) studying with me in Montreal - it was a marvelous experience to be artistic director of Shango Dance Theatre - Eva Von Genscy (hard G for GEN-SHEE) a Hungarian beauty was dear to Connie, as his mother Grace was very close to Joey. Shango Dance Theatre was the creation of Connie Darling and Joey Lupo Bond who brought the name from an old book on the Yoruba Tribe.- Shango was a meeting of beautiful souls who comprised this avant gaurde troupe. Connie's daughter was named after his mentor, Grace Lupo Darling. Mama Grace was half Jewish & half Italian. His father's actual last name was, Cherie, and was part Canadian Indian & part Black - Connie did not hold any belt in the World Karate Federation (WKF) or any other professional organization. Chien Lung was Connie's inheritance from his mentor, Joey Lupo Bond - RIP Connie ❤
Hey Thank you for reaching out. Yes, I continue to train in Chien-lung, and I still do weight training, informed by Colgan, but adapted to meet my needs and interests.
What made you ask? Was there anything you particularly interested in? You are obviously, by your channel, an extremely accomplished fitness expert. cheers! sm
@smacram Im passionate about health and training . I used to go to Colgans seminars in Vancouver. And I remember when I followed the power program my strength and power were at the highest level. But now have been living in South America and out of the fittness loop. Im wondering if there are any updates to the program for none competing athletes. Also There was a level 2 and 3 online but the website is down.
@ I don’t know the details, but yes, I believe that the Colgan power program training and certification program came to an end, I don’t know if it ever picked up enough momentum. I’ve left in 2000 to go to grad school and we are still friends, I went to his 80th birthday five years ago, but I haven’t kept in touch or kept current with developments in their business. I believe they are on Facebook, if you do a search for them under their names, you should be able to find them and message them.
For those of us who do not speak English, a brief explanation is needed about the purpose of the exercise (below the video), so I can translate and understand. I like the systems that still retain elements to integrate body-mind-spirit, not everything has to be UFC. I believe that today's greatest enemy is not in a dark street, it is the stress that involves our civilized and unnatural life, (more when your country, your politicians and Donald Trump bring so much violence to the rest of the world). Thanks for the videos of your channel.
I am so happy to have found these videos of you and alisoun and constantine.I danced with you all at North End Fitness many years ago on Salt Spring Island. What a pleasure to see you all again and to remember my days dancing with such beautiful people.I treasure these memories. You are all so talented and I am so grateful for your generous sharing.
Easily one of the most instructive Aikido videos I have seen on TH-cam to date, and I have seen quite a lot. Shibata Sensei is phenomenal. Thanks for posting.
