Thank you so much. I was adjusting the potentiometers to the following settings based on other videos. DVD: 3.5K ohms, CD:1.2K- 1.8K ohms. That is for the BenQ and Lite-On drives that use the HOP 14xx/141x lasers. Even though your drive is a Lite-On 16D5S, it uses the same laser (15xx) as a Hitachi DL10N on the Xbox 360 S. It consistently reads my games. I had bought a whole core assembly that has the spindle & worm gear motors, and the laser assembly with all ribbon cables attached. It still needed to be adjusted. Out of the box, the new laser was at DVD: 2.99K ohms and the CD: 1.67K ohms

Having the laser set that low, the laser makes a right noise when there new you can have them set alot higher without the noise and still works just as good

Anyone who still got a X360 You can install all your disc games to harddrive to save the dvd lasers life Your welcome

Don't want to say anything about the maker of this video don't mind it but my aunt is rich so she bought me a Xbox , I don't know what's the problem so first I will ask her to bye me an new GTA 5 disc if the disc is perfect and it works I will continue playing if not i will ask her to buy a new Xbox 360

My dear Ex-XBOX (R.I.P.) used to read most of the clean games but I just wanted that Metal Gear Solid V: TPP game which I had missed. Also, RE Revelations 2 was barely readable. So I dunno why I couldn't forget about those games it wouldn't read. Now here I am, punished for my beyond average curiosity; sitting with my broken laser staring at the wall instead of the TV screen.

How do you use the multimeter correctly to get good readings because I bought one and I had no clue how to use it and I don't even think I got accurate readings. How come his is clamped to a screw driver? Mine came with to pins at the end of a black and red wire.

The only game I can't play is Minecraft, any simpler solution?

Is this repair only for drives that won't any type of disc? Or ones that won't game discs? The reason I ask is, my Xbox 360e will play CD's and movies fine but it won't read game discs.

I played Black ops 2, and then changed game. OPEN TRAY error.. I found out, that my Blobs 2 dics was broken and broke the laser. So thanks to Gamestop, for selling me busted game

And for anyone without a multimeter, I didn't use one, but be VERY CAREFUL. 16th turns and test. An I'm double checking with a meter tonight when I can get one.

you can't begin to understand the happiness this fix brought to my household. All games were taking 45 mins or more of opening and closing the tray to work. Now every game works every time. Thanks so much!

Please help me my laser its a 5xx R and it would not read

I thought ive fixed mine. after following these steps ive inserted a disc then BAAAANGG! it worked! but after a minute when im about to choose from the dvd menu (movie) xbox will say attempting to read media. then suddenly it went out to the dashboard. so ill repeat from the first step: ill turn back to screw to where it was originally positioned; ill repeat this steps again then the disc will work "again" BAAANGG AGAIN! but not for long it will only play the disc for a minute or two it will stop then will be back to the dashboard what can I do ? any comments or suggestions will help a lot thanks

I believe I have a 15XX (It shows 15XX next to a data matrix code underneath the laser) but I'm getting values of 2.67k and 2.89k respectively for the DVD and CD pots. This xbox has never before been opened... do those values sound too low?

Mine was at 2.3 so I put it to 2.8 cause it wouldn't read at all at 4.5 and it works perfectly thanks man :)

i got readings from my RROD xbox the readings were (when looking from the back of the drive to the front) 3.84k ohm for the left side one and 0.758k ohm from the right and the laser is a 141x i put these into my goodwill bought xbox that was not reading disks with a 14xx laser and it works perfectly now.

you should unplug it before fooling around in tide of it.
