      It's due to the gear ratios of the 10-speed automatic transmission. The vehicle determines that the selected gear is optimal for the given speed, resulting in this RPM. This kind of behavior is quite common in modern transmissions.

    It is faster in the 0-60 and 0-100 tests but WAY slower then the 2019y models to 170 km/u that reached that at 24 sec, this one almost 34 sec. I think it is because it has become higher and bulkier like a proper SUV, while the old model was more a large stationwagon.

      That's true... All Japanese cars come with a limiter by default, and removing it requires modifying the computer, which can be quite a hurdle...

      This is a CVT. However, the simulated gear shifts are so well-done that it feels like a stepped automatic transmission. During regular, gentle acceleration, it operates as a continuously variable transmission, but when you fully press the accelerator, it simulates gear shifts like this.
