The Presbyterian battle against Episcopalian Church of England is a much forgotten part of Scottish history .Campaigning in the run up to 2014 referendum I came across many people who knew nothing of the history of the Scoland they where demanding independence for.

Love this song.I was at Alexander Peden’s old house and monument yesterday at Mistyburn, County Antrim.Tradition holds that the redcoats came for him one day to arrest him and that he escaped out a back window,and ran over the field to a burn(stream)to hide from the soldiers.A mist descended and the redcoats couldn’t find him.Hence the Townland was called “Mistyburn”.I was also at “the round hole” at Laymore,County Antrim yesterday.The Covenanters held secret Conventicles there before the erection of there first church building in 1789 at Cullybackey,County Antrim😀

I was astounded when I listened to this Lecture. I had heard of Covenanters but had never read anything about them. It is a brilliant lecture which deserves far more exposure. congratulations to Iain MacDonald for having it uploaded to TH-cam

descendant from Daniel Macoe or cone... covenanter that lost the battle of dunbar.. he was sent to london to be humillated naked and then sent to Massachusetts

Today went with some brothers and sister to Dunnotter castle in Stonehaven to see where I think over 200 Covenanter men and women were kept in horrible conditions, some tortured and some died trying to escape. Two of us also went to see the memorial stone dedicated to their memory in the grounds of Dunnotter Parish church. Really harrowing to think about.

I Praise God, for each of these wonderful people and for the fact that my ancestor, John Gilliland was send to the plantations of New Jersey in 1865, for being a covenanter.

The covenanters died for the Crown rights of Kings Jesus, for true religion, Not for the satanic delusion of "freedom of religion".

We shall arise again, standing for truth on sacred ground signed over to Him as head to govern The one and only rightful King worthy of praise pressed as a lion on our royal coat of arms, now in the hands of unfit "rulers" who mock scoff and abuse our land, we shall press on as a soldier to win our freedom for our freedom is the spirit of our Lord (2 Corinthians 3:17) God chose Israel. Scotland chose God until judgment day do we meet for eternity - Alba gu bràth.

Beautiful history of some of the most truly Christian men and women to have ever walked the face of the earth. May Almighty God bless the souls of all Covenanters who were martyred (either in Holy battle or through horrible persecution). Soli Deo Gloria! For Christ's Crown and Covenant!

Finding through DNA that my family was a Presbyterian Rev. in the late 1600's and early 1700's but finding many things in the family about Covenanters in my search to connect families.. the story was very interesting. Thank you so much! It adds to the reason and logic of all that was going on at that time! The reason our White family was attacked and or dealt with harsher than other covenants captured. The reason the father Rev. Adam White was imprisoned for 7 years in Ireland.. James was beheaded, The two Georges both banished Barbados and later escaped and Hugh later was banished to the Colonies! .. Now after listening I understand all what was going on with them, their father a Rev and so they were treated worse. Lucky for us we are even here after hearing all that went on! Thank You so much for sharing! It brings into perspective the horror they lived and why this was all happening to our family! .

I appreciated many things about this sermon, but especially the following three points: 1.) Simplicity of presentation. It's an understandable introduction to covenanting for those who have no prior knowledge of the topic, and also a great review of the basics for those with more knowledge. 2.) As an American Covenanter, I was glad to hear the discussion of the relationship of the Solemn League and Covenant to the U.S. 3.)The hopeful remarks near the end of the sermon concerning God's reluctance to let go of His covenanted people. Looking at our nations today, it is easy to despair and lose hope that we will ever return to the Lord Jesus. But surely God will yet deal in mercy towards us!

The history of the Scottish Covenanters has been sadly neglected and forgotten by most. It really should be taught to every child in the Anglosphere as well as to every Presbyterian in every land. Thank you for uploading this lecture! May it spread the knowledge of God's gracious work in Scotland far and wide, and may He have all the glory!
