ATV aDrums artist expanded kit using eDRUMin 10
Just got this all set up yesterday so it's not 100% but I'm feeling pretty good with the results so far. This is how I ran everything:
1. 13" ATV snare
2. 18" ATV kick / 13" ATV floor tom (mono split)
3. 10" ATV tom 1
4. 10" ATV tom 2
5. 16" ATV crash 1
6. Roland BT-1 (mounted and linked to snare)
7/8. 18" ATV ride (two cables for 3 zones, couldn't get it to work with one cable and bell sense)
9. 14" ATV hi-hat
10. 16" ATV crash 2
The sidestick worked better this time and only triggered the snare when I moved the butt of the stick away from the rim. The BT-1 seems to trigger the snare rim or head when I hit toward the center where it's mounted on the lug. I also notice the right side of the BT-1 is much less sensitive and must be hit harder to trigger the same as the left side.
I rarely ever crash my ride so prefer to have a china triggered in Superior Drummer instead of running another cymbal. I realized after I made the video I left the Drum Map visible instead of switching to the velocity curve which may help analyze better.

    Hey, sounds great. Can the edrumin handle cymbal swells? It's one thing that im really limited by on my atv module, and it drives me crazy.

    • @whoisjb
      @whoisjb 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I haven't had any issues with cymbals responding correctly. If I hit them lightly the respond naturally so I can definitely get a swell out of them as I increase the velocity and attack on the cymbal. I hope this helps. I had posted another video below. Not sure if you watched that one which may give you some more examples of the triggering of SD3: th-cam.com/video/9YoCag77F_M/w-d-xo.html

      @@whoisjb Thanks for the response, it's the one last jarring thing, asides the odd hi hat mistrigger. EZD3 and SD3 sound so good, I can't go back to module sounds, so if I can avoid a module, I will! 👍

      Good catch! Whenever I play it that way on the Rolands, the dynamics don't sound quite right so I opt for the hats. Back when I played acoustics, I always played just the snare on the verses. Dada is not the most well-known band but I loved all of their stuff and miss seeing them play live.

    Do you use USB for midi out of the eDRUMin into the mac, or do you use midi out of the eDRUMin into the MOTU midi in?

    • @whoisjb
      @whoisjb 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      MIDI out of eDRUMin into Motu MIDI in, Motu USB out to MacBook. I use USB out of eDRUMin into MacBook for power and to use the eDRUMin control software when I want to adjust settings.

      @@whoisjb I also use an M2 with two eDrumin4. They're connect to a usb hub then to my macbook pro. Did you find going MIDI out of eDRUMIN -> MOTU -> Macbook provided better latency then going USB straight to the computer?

    • @whoisjb
      @whoisjb 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@OftheSeven I didn't try running the eDRUMin without the MOTU. I've always used an audio interface with Superior Drummer back when I first started running it with my Roland TD20. I haven't had any issues with latency the way I currently run it though.

    Hi Jeremy, i am very impressed with the Trigger results! Can you tel me how is the Edrumin latency in comparisson to the ad5? I know on Paper, that the Erdumin has 3ms and the ad5 2ms but how is it in reality after pluging everything together? So V1: Erdumin -> Motu M2 -> MBP vs V2: ad5 -> MBP - is there a feeling difference?

    • @whoisjb
      @whoisjb 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! I bought this ATV kit without the AD5 module so I can't really answer your question. Many Roland kits, for example, come with their overpriced modules, so when I sold my Roland TD-20 kit, the ATV kit got my attention over a Roland VAD kit since you could order it without a module. So, I've never used this ATV kit with anything else other than the eDRUMin. I also never had the chance to run the eDRUMin on my Roland kit before I sold it (it sold very quickly before the eDRUMin arrived in the mail).

    Hi! Do I still need an external sound interface when hooking up my edrumin10 module to my macbook pro with superior drummer 3? Thank you!

    • @whoisjb
      @whoisjb 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. The main point of the eDRUMin module is to get the MIDI signals to your Superior Drummer software. Instead of spending a bunch of money on an expensive Roland module where you're not even using the built-in sounds and many of the other features SD3.0 replaces, this provides exactly what you need for much less money. I personally use a MOTU M2 audio interface to send the sounds from SD3.0 to my mixing board. It's been the best one I've owned so far with my MacBook Pro.

    • @whoisjb
      @whoisjb 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tardabbi Hey Pedro, thanks for the reply. 1. Yes, I'm only using the eDRUMin module with the MIDI running into my MOTU M2 audio device which connects to my MacBook Pro. 2. Depends. If you don't need to trigger all zones of a pad, a cymbal being a great example, you can use a splitter cable to run the splash on the L and the 4th tom on the R. This is how I ran my kick and floor tom. I didn't care to have the rim sounds for my floor tom and the kick is single zone anyway. I do know people run two modules, the eDRUMin 10 and the eDRUMin 4 chained together if they need all channels to run all zones.

    • @whoisjb
      @whoisjb 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think I started with the Roland PD120 and then switched to the Mesh Side Piezo pad type. Once you choose the correct pad type, it really comes down to calibrating. The calibrate feature gets you very close but you may have to adjust the settings further based on your playing style.
