Helicam International HD: Elmenteita Lake, Kenya
มุมมอง 28211 ปีที่แล้ว
A gorgeous new playground to test a new S800/WKM/Z15 helicam system. The lake and its surroundings are beautiful enough but when photographed it all looks so spectacular and serene with an astounding colour palette. These sequences were filmed over two early mornings. Some sequences from the first shoot display some just visible and unpleasant jitters in the Tilt axis of the gimbal, but after a...
Helicam International HD: Château Royal du Vivier
มุมมอง 2.5K12 ปีที่แล้ว
The Château Royal du Vivier, Fontenay-Tresigny, France. The Château Royal du Vivier dates from the 13th century. Of course it is now a ruin but a picturesque ruin nonetheless and it is still a working venue for events and functions, particularly weddings, with its beautiful grounds and peaceful ambiance. This video clip contains aerial footage shot for eventual publicity use by the current chât...
Helicam International HD: Reservoir at dawn
มุมมอง 28012 ปีที่แล้ว
Dawn sunrise over the reservoir at Magny-le-Hongre in Marne-la-Vallée, France. The music is 'Morning' from Peer Gynt by Grieg. Cliché of course, but still so appropriate for the magical mood of the crisp, frosty, winter morning. Unfortunately the soundtrack has been blocked for viewers in Germany. Apologies.

Sue was miss Kenya I think.
John Hope is missed.
Instead of looking at it as free advertising for potential music sales, some pansy asshole at TH-cam has decided to cut the music track on the basis of a copyright complaint. This video is not making money, or trying to, it has been up there for twelve years and does not bother anyone. Adding some pleasant music makes it less dull to watch. What a pathetic world of pansy busy-bodies who, after they have finished playing with themselves, then have nothing else better to do with their miserable, worthless and uninteresting lives than to look for opportunities to interfere and be a nuisance. This video is not important now. At the time it was recorded, it was a major achievement but technology has since moved on. However, Assholes never change. They remain assholes forever.
nice time, thanks john and graham
shame the coast is such a dump these days
Kweli !
Nice stuff. (In my brain): Integrate the drone footage of jumps with the helmet cam footage of jumpers. Thanks for posting your work at your expense (hard part). I love to see the learning process in a unique environment. Don't let the potatoes get you down. I appreciate the pressure on the drone pilot. Some people expand their understanding of nature and take pictures of it (and if we're lucky, share them with us.) Thanks people.
Hi are you guys using the mongoose , how are they to fly with your work etc please tell thanks
No, it is a Copterworks AF25B heli.
nice well done like your vids
And ps....what a dick comment- and from a guy who doesnt have a single video posted. Dave Carroll1 year ago Those shots really aren't that good. After all of that I was expecting VIDEO to be coming from that camera. Not Stills!
195VIDS If I understand your position correctly, people without posted videos shouldn't comment. I don't mean to interrupt a good techno war, just war in general. If people react to your work (either way), that means you've done something special in this medium. Why you're not fist bumping to lift all of us, or not ignoring negativity is beyond me, and I'd appreciate it if you'd take it outside. Oh, right! That might be a problem. Fix it.
195VIDS You have to let some any mouse comments go. Don't sweat the small stuff in life. Seriously.
Angus Davies +Angus Davies hi Angus :) no, you didn't understand me correctly. I think anyone should be able to comment on any video... however IMHO, I think that most people who have taken the time to shoot, edit and post a video tend to have more point and overall respect when posting comments. We all use and need constructive criticism. I was simply pointing out that this guy's was one of the type that doesn't post himself, but throws out some lazy, critical comment that doesn't do anything for anyone. I felt similar to how you responded to me... why complain...just ignore. But AFTER I made a positive comment I took 2 sec to point out that his comment seemed unnecessary- as mine was too perhaps. I think I did to him, exactly what you just did to me only you took it more seriously :) ...I really didn't take it that seriously to begin with...it's all small stuff :) "Fix it"... that was kind of a dick comment :(
195VIDS Thanks. It's all a learning experience. There are great uses for these things. Marrying the capability to the subject is hard, especially if the subject is moving fast. No substitute for a helmet cam,but perhaps a supplement. Stay safe.
what a fun day :)
Thanks nike shot.
Two Panasonic GH2's. One unmodified at 1080i50 and one hacked at 720p50
Hi what kind of camera did you use. Thanks.
As explained previously, this was primarily a photo only shoot. Of course it was crying out for video but time and the weather was against us. Photos from this session and others, plus videos of other projects can all be seen on the helicaminternational(.com) website.
Where`s the footage from the heli-cam ? (video & stills) Like to have seen that. Never the less very good control on the r.c unit.
Most of it was with a Raptor 50v2. The steady long shots were with the Copterworks heli.
what heli?
That sounds like a pretty fair comment. However, the jump location was about a kilometer from the road and it would have been particularly challenging to get to whilst also flying. Plus, if it took too long the heli would need refueling and there was nowhere to land - as you see, it was all rocks, bushes and thorny brush. Because of this absence of open spaces at the jump location we had to take the table as a 'helipad' and, as there were enough helping hands, we decided to just carry it all.
it's all fun and games until you run out of gas
great!
As has been written before, the job itself was for photos and so that was the first priority. We had just one single day because the next day it absolutely poured with rain. Big shame because we were itching to get some video whilst we were there. The photographer was aiming for shots where the sky AND the canyon floor would be in the frame at the same time. You do not get many second chances with BASE jumpers. Once they jump they are gone in three seconds!
Those shots really aren't that good. After all of that I was expecting VIDEO to be coming from that camera. Not Stills!
Multi-Rotors were in their infancy at the time and certainly not man enough to carry a 5D. In fact they still aren't for the length of flight time required for a shoot like this. This session required the heli to hover in position for 30 -40 minutes at a time. In addition, a Multi-Rotor would be completely unmanageable in the violent air currents of this canyon.
why not use quadrocopter? or octocopter?
The big heli is made by Copterworks Inc. They supply the airframe and camera mount and then you customise it all to your own requirements. The little heli also has camera control - either by a separate operator or by the heli pilot.
That was a Canon 5D mk2 so it was a wired remote actuated from the camera operator's transmitter.
cool. but how du you take a photo ? i can't see a servo of something other whicht push the button ???
cool!
@rodstartube Happily everyone went home in one piece. In fact probably the only wuss was me not wanting the heli to join the jumpers and disappear down to the canyon floor.
did someone survive?
I think I know what I want for xmas.
un homme exceptionel..
@magnum44productions I know what you mean. The wind was really ferocious on the Marc Vella piano video. Trouble was, on the ground everything appeared okay. But once the heli was 15 - 20 metres off the ground it was suddenly swept away by the wind bouncing up off the cliffs. The buffeting air turbulence in the Verdon canyon also made for some quite hairy flying. They would be ready to jump and suddenly the heli would fall 40 metres OR shoot upwards. You can see & hear it in the last shot.
Apologies magnum44, I forgot to answer your question regarding vibration. As supplied the original camera mount isolation was not effective enough. The gimbal suspension and camera mount plate suspension have been heavily modified from what you see in the video with the result that no vibration gets through to the camera anymore. Electrics have many attributes for AP but the short flight times and the battery charging nightmare are significant disadvantages for serious work.
Think about your comment for a while. I understand what you are saying, this heli is a bit of a brute for the 5D that the photographer was using in this instance. But If someone wants to fly his Red he can. Makes no difference to this heli. One heli to fly all cameras is considerably less 'overkill' than several heli's to fly different cameras, don't you think? I know that is not what you meant .... but you see what I mean?
@mougan35 Yep, vibration isolation is the first thing to achieve before anything else, although in this karting clip there is so much camera movement involved in chasing the karts around that the resulting video looks a bit 'hairy' in places.
Super!
@Erebagilus Apparently you did not see the original response. The song is 'Going Home' written by Mark Knopfler (for the film 'Going Home') and it is played by The Shadows.
Perfect Movie!
@cayote64 Well that my friend is the first big hurdle to overcome and it takes lots of time, experimentation and ingenuity because there is no standard answer. However, as a general rule your solution is going to involve absorbing foam, gel and elastic.
How is best to mount the camera ive got vibration issues that are shaking my picture really bad ? Cool video by the way
@maicongabriel Thanks bro!
@maicongabriel I wonder what that means?
i just Love it , wish to have one ! :-)
Perfekt!
Perfekt!
Yes, I too was hoping to get video - video is the 'normal business' with this heli - but on this occasion the main business was photos and we just plain ran out of time. The next day the weather turned really bad and stayed that way for weeks, so we lost out on any video opportunity. Might go back one day and try again.
Great stuff, but why not going to the otherside of the cliff and use a telephoto to get better picture. Also I was expecting video with such a helicopter.
Very observant, sort of. However, what you should have seen is that the cars are on the correct side of the road but are driving backwards. I had to pay some very expensive stunt drivers...! In the original footage the heli was flying TOWARDS the road. I wanted a pull out shot for the ending. Cigar is in the post.
Lovely video but did you record it mirrored because if you go to 2 mins 18 secs you will see the cars are driving on the wrong side of the road for the UK . Again great vid.
I accidently erased someone's comment. Sorry. I cannot remember the pseudo, something like yagoo2002. Apologies again.
