In this video I am sharing my approach to a new large detailed oil painting I'm working on these days.
In this PART 1 of the video I documented all the steps I took to create an effective underpainting which allows me to establish close to correct values for different areas of the canvas while keep mantaining all the smallest details visible, which is going to be very useful for the second stage of the process.
In order to do that I decided to use a slightly unconventional approach by mixing different tecniques, like using archival ink pens, indian ink wash, raw umber oil layers and lift out.

Unconvetional is mostly reffered to the type of Artwork I'm doing, a combination of abstract, realistic, surreal, 3D... it's hard to put a classic label on it.
