Fantastic. Glad I found this. My favorite BH song

I was in college in late 90s/early 00s. He played this at a concert I attended. Opened the show with Oppression/Get Up Stand Up as it was Bob Marley’s birthday (Feb 6th). Covered Hendrix, Stevie Wonder, and Marvin Gaye also. “Two Hands of a Prayer” was immense that night…got to meet Ben several years later and he said he remembered the show. Thanks for posting this gem!

i really can't believe this is the only full live version of this incredible song on all of youtube! did he just not play it a lot live or what? this is one of my favorite songs of the 90's and certainly one of the best songs to come out in 1999, hands down.

So, I was at the Beale Street Music Festival in Memphis 2000 and somehow I had never heard or even heard of Ben Harper so I was puzzled as to how someone I had never heard of was on the main stage after dark. The band comes out, he sits down with his guitar and they start playing my favorite Hendrix song and I thought, this guy's gonna cover Jimi? Are you shitting me? Pretty ballsy move. And he's not just covering Jimi, he's actually opening his set with Jimi. I mean, who covers Jimi? Let's see, there's SRV, Clapton, who the fuck does he think he is?!? Then came the solo and I had to bend down and pick my jaw up off the ground. He actually took my breath away. Been a fan ever since. He's a criminally under appreciated artist of the highest caliber. Though he's an excellent songwriter, but while I've got your attention I'd like to draw it to another cover. If you've never heard him do Cohen's Hallaluah,, do it now. It's been covered by dozens if not hundreds of folks, but none come close to Ben. That is all. Thank you
