Interview in French with Scottish author Peter May
I understand they have made the first book into a TV series. I can’t find where I can watch it!
I have just finished reading this book and to be honest I have never been so moved by a book. Without doubt this is the best book I have read. I will read the other 2 books in the series but I feel the 1st book was so emotional that I need a break. I can not believe that all the publishers turned it down. You wonder what other brilliant books are out there never to be read.
Thank you. Another Capercaillie track I was unaware of, interspaced with Highland reminders - time to return. Right now immersed in The Blackhouse. The good and 'easy' read should be concluded in the next few hours as I sit by a brook, hoping the Sun☀️ holds out. My other top favourite Capercaillie track is Aodann Srath Bhain. Iconic. postscript: The Blackhouse never turned out to be as dark as I was expecting and that pleased me. A really enjoyable non-stop read 🙃
I defy anyone to hear this and not be affected.
I've read the first two novels in the Lewis Trilogy: The Blackhouse and The Lewis Man. These two novels have been a revelation to me, especially the first one. The story is wonderfully well-written. It takes place on one of the islands of the Hebrides where I have never set foot so far. When you start reading The Blackhouse, it is hard to put down the book occasionally. You feel as if you have to continue reading it. I have particularly enjoyed reading the first-person memories of the hero, Fin MacLeod. His first day at school. His school friends. The bullies in the school. His first encounter with Marssailli, the love of his life. All of these make this story enjoyable. The second novel in the series, The Lewis Man, is wonderful as well. And now I am reading the third novel: The Chessmen. I had never heard of Peter May before a visit at my uncle Bernard's in January of this year 2020. He showed me 'The Blackhouse' which he was reading at the time, in English of course. He was half-way through it. As soon as I was back home that day, I took my Kindle reader and obviously found it and even discovered it was 3-book set. I downloaded 'toot sweet' and started reading the first novel the following day. Peter May is a great writer. Another book by him I have read is LOCKDOWN. As the title suggests, it's about a lockdown period when a flu epidemic strikes the world, and more particularly London. Read it if you feel like it. It's at least worth a try.
Ce livre m'a boulversée !!! Merci pour ces images magnifiques qui illustrent ce livre !! J' ai adoré

My uncle put me onto Peter Mays writing when I was in Glasgow and I am so glad he did, a brilliant writer
What neat writing for a boy of four!
Je viens de finir le livre, merci pour les images, c'est excellent.
Just finished reading The Blackhouse, and enjoyed seeing the film after Googling birdhunters of Ness. It looks pretty much as I imagined the scenes from the book--nice descriptive writing, and a great story with characters that I really cared about.

I've just finished reading The Blackhouse. My compliments to the author, it was so well written that I felt I was actually there. I can't wait until his next book.
Yes, agreed, throughout the read I never felt it was wholly fictitious.
Sweeeeeet!
Reading the book right now it's great Love it!
Oh how I miss these. My wife and I have tried making them at home - and do a fair job - but I'm missing a couple of steps. Mmm, yum.
Hehe go Peter! William D
I'm halfway through this very enjoyable book.

I loved this...looking forward to the book!
That's a great mix, good trailer!!! I look forward to the book.
Yes, food IS the way to a woman's heart - especially these recipes! I cannot wait to try them. Toasted sesame oil is very important. I purchased sesame oil, and had no idea the difference in taste with the toasted. I would love to try the ribs on the grill. This summer, I became a grill fanatic and try just about everything on there - including pizza. Thanks for sharing!
Love 5 spice ribs. I could possibly be a vegetarian if it were not for Ribs. Your dinner would have been great. I do ribs very similar but finish by roasting in oven after adding Honey so that they become a litle crispy on outside. Thanks for taking the time to post this video. Its all good. I used to just say if everyone played music how nice this world would be. I am adding if eveyone also cooked how great this world would be. Its a shame the world cannot be fed
