    Just wanted to add an observation from a comment in another video which I believe may contributed to this accident. "The problem with snap back is not so much of a matter of line getting tied to a stationary point on the riser or arrow rest, it's a problem when it gets tied to the bow string which acts as a spring and does NOT allow the string to break like it does if the line is anchored to a rigid stationary point. This is a major difference in the physics that is at play." Thank you for making this video, Im glad your recovery is going well. God bless

    Wouldn't a slide prevent this?

  • @nicholas755

    Hope you’re doing well man! Saw you in another bow fishing video. Is this as much of a concern with crossbows? I’m just starting on a crossbow pistol and the bolts are much shorter than the barrel(?), so there’s no real need or use for a slide is there?

    I don't see how safety glasses are really going to protect your eyes from a nock coming back at your eye at a full draw

    • @RMS-gl6wl
      @RMS-gl6wl ปีที่แล้ว

      It has a good chance to deflect away from your eye socket.

    • @stevescuba1978

      Good safety glasses will easily stop an arrow nock at 250 fps (probably slower at 25lb draw).

    I was shooting with a fiber glass arrow that was damaged the whole thing folded some how wen i reased it , big mistake because I could have lost an eye instead, it hit just below on the side of my face , it cut me , good idea to wear safely glasses , it's not worth the risk.

    Found your video from the Unguided channel. Thank you for sharing, making sure me and my boys are running slides from here on out. What rest are you running? Looking to switch to a shelf rest and I can’t find one that looks like yours. Thank you

      @@capt_patches7286 Thank you! This video really has me thinking I shoot about 35lbs and had something hang up one time and luckily it just broke my line. I’m using a mega mouth but some of my friend shoot the ams bottle reels and that stuff is basically rope. We just sunk our boat Friday night crashing into a sandbar being overloaded. Luckily we got it out. Thinking a little bit more about safety now

    Thank you. I watched other videos and got rid of the slide but promptly switched back to using a slide after you shared your story. I shared it on two other videos where these people swear that snapbacks don’t happen when using a spincast. Your video is helping protect us. Thank you.

    I used to laugh off safety glasses till I lost my eye, now everywhere I work and everybody I work with I make them wear my 'after surgery' glasses that cover the left side of my face for a day. All but 1 have come in with brand new safety glasses the next day.

    Damn bro! I'm glad you ended up just down an eye. Could have been way worse! You will be shooting again in no time. I found this video looking at the possible advantages of talking to the back so you saved me from trying it so thank you for that. I will also very likely be wearing glasses from now on at night. You probably saved a few eye balls with this video! It's not just an empty warning when it comes straight from a guy that got the short end of the deal. Can't wait to see you shooting again buddy!

    so sorry to hear of your accident. hats off to you. you seem strong and positive. i wont judge anyones choice as to how to choose or rig their gear. but i will say that no matter what, no one can control how that string is going to react when u tie to the back. stay safe, and hope you will be shooting again soon.
