Hacking the Char-Broil Modular Outdoor Kitchen - how I added gas electric and water lines
มุมมอง 16K3 ปีที่แล้ว
#charbroil #Modular #Outdoor #Kitchen #Medallion For those who are researching into this set like I did, I want to share what I did with this setup and how I got gas electric and plumbing into it. It was nerve wrecking but it is definitely possible! First I planned and measured the whole area where I want to install the kitchen. Then I mapped out where the plumbing and electrical will be placed...
If an above ground pool were an outdoor kitchen. J/k Get yourself some umbrella shade and you’re set
I did.. and I'm kinda set.. the smoker broke on me and there's a recall so I got money back from it at least but I had to find another smoker thats not part of the set which sucks
Where does the sink drain to?
@@Luke.Cooking I had a sewage drain installed under the pavers that leads to where the kitchen sink drain is.
@johnnytsang_DPhappy grilling amigo. Every Asian family needs a good wok burner. Is that to the left of the grill?
@@Luke.Cooking No it's a griddle.. I plan to get a stovetop to replace the broken smoker so I can cook my cast iron super high heat for that nice steak sear and no smell in house!
Shes ten crazy 😮😮😮
I wanna be part of this so bad I’m so obsessed with mean girls
The girl has a lovely voice! I hope she continues singing!
Idk if this is a coincidence that i played the same role and same age and same name
@Stitch-v7h wow and you found this video! Fate!
it does NOT sound like shes 10! that girl is amazing!
@@rubyloveshercat lol aww thanks! You should see her dress on her normal day, then you’ll see the 10 lol
Really good!! I see her going really far in Broadway & musical theater!!
Oh she'll LOVE this comment! 🥲 Thank you!
The scooter tho 🥺👌🏻
lol they couldn’t get a “jazzy” on the stage!
I was Janis in mean girls jr! She killed it! Unfortunately I didn't have this line, (it was cut out), but if I did I certainly would've wanted to do as good as her.
Yes she was very happy to get casted as Janis. She was originally auditioning for Karen but I think this role fits her perfectly! I’m sure you would’ve killed it too if this part was in your play! So fun for her to just belt it out!
Of course! So impressed by her, wish she could've seen my Janis!!!
Omg she is amazing!! Love her voice 💞I would love to play her!! I was just in Les Miz omg it was so good!! 💓💓
Thank you! She'll love your comment! She loves theater and performing! Great to hear you're in Les Miz!
damn she got potential
Thank you!
First main role performance at Long Island New York #meangirls #musical #janice
Hello, is all pieces on wheels for ease to reposition?
Hi yes it is. It has wheels and when it is placed you can adjust the wheel so the base can be lowered and locked off.
Nice strike! Your the goat
How’s this holding up years later?
So far so good.. just used the bbq and griddle for stuff.. sink is still good, no rusts that I can see, only problem was the smoker but got it replaced and I can use it again and they had a recall replacement part sent to me. I haven’t turned my fridge on yet so I’ll let you know if that’s good too. Just got to get covers as when it rains water does get inside the storage areas
Great video. Do you have footage of how the set up looks now after a few years use?
Not sure how I can send new footage via reply.. But I can say is the smoker doesn't work anymore and they had a recall and refunded me 60% of the product. Everything else is fine and looks the same. bummer about the smoker as I love the complete feel of it.
char broil was a great name years ago then the were purchased by the chines and they turned to junk and rusted out very fast. so why would i buy them now?
Where can I find the smoker? I have the rest of the bar
I got it in Lowe’s but I think the charbroil website sells it too..
in about 2 years you will have things rusting out. It looks good i just have had bad luck with the brand hopefully you wont have those issues
So far so good, the smoker was giving me issues so they sent a new one for me. And some small things but I don’t see rust yet.. and I got it in January 2021.. so let’s see how it is this year.. I just used my smoker this past week no issues,,
How has it held up? Any rust?
So far no rust.. however I had to get the smoker replaced because the electric was malfunctioning so they sent me a new unit, which was nice.. also the bbq the inside leaks so buying the cover for the bbq fixes that. But other than that so far so good..
Electric box right underneath sink… great idea
nice. Are you going to do the stone or tile? Do you like that smoker?
Hey there, so I decided to leave it as everyone told me it looks nice regardless. As for the smoker, I love it, but im having issues with the product as it's not working well.. Right now the power keeps tripping and the led display buttons goes all wacky because it gets too hot from the heat and I guess it cant handle.. Hoping warranty can fix it but the parts are out of stock so thats frustrating..
Nice setup. I would like to know how was the performance of the grill and do you have any issues? I read some reviews about rusting of the frames at short period of time. Not sure if they are true. Thanks in advance
So so far so good.. no rusting yet.. but the bottom where I had it cut I saw a little rust on the edges. There were some electrical issues that I reached out to them about and they sent me parts which fixed it. I now have a smoker issue that I have to talk to them about
Still a really good setup and everyone loves it.. especially me! It’s only been less than a year so let’s see how it holds next year. I’m about to cover it up. Oh one thing is when it rains it’s not water protected so the inside does get wet. I got their grill covers which fixed a lot of the problems
That’s great. Thanks again for responding.
Question: since you’re using natural gas now what did you do with the space for propane & that nice pull out propane tank shelf? I’m trying to repurpose that but can’t think what to do
Honestly I left it.. didn’t do much lol
@@johnnytsang_DP I’m thinking of removing it and installing it somewhere else for something. Haven’t figured out what yet though
@@elainevegan5386 I think just placing a platform on top would be a easy start..
So trying to do the plumbing on this. I was thinking of just using a Fresh water tank with pump and grey water drain tank for it. Than saw your set up. Was it costly?
It wasn’t bad.. cost wise. just depending on how your layout is and the plumbing and electrical in the area. I was able to tap the plumbing from existing plumbing if my sink inside from the basement drop ceiling and ran electric under. For the drain I was able to tap into my sewer drain as well. Before the pavers I had dirt w trees so had that removed and then the contractors came in and did the work. Good luck!
nice setup, however, you gotta get a grate to go over that basement window cutout, that's an accident waiting to happen.
Yea I know.. that’s already in the works.. plus I put a outdoor storage set over it now
Love it, the 5 burner grill is being delivered today, is there a recommended clearance I swear I read 36” somewhere but can’t fine that documentation anymore. Have an electrician coming to put some outdoor outlets tomorrow
Go on the website for the manual I believe it’s there.
Ordered this directly from CharBroil. They failed to send one component ($1,000 refrigerator) and now refuse to respond to me. I am told the issue has been transferred to Customer Service and I cannot speak to anyone in that department. It's been 3 weeks with no communication, no response to emails, no answers to inquiries submitted via their Customer Service ticket portal. Save yourself the time/money/frustration and look elsewhere for your modular outdoor kitchen!
Wow that sucks to hear.. I ordered through a mixture or Lowe’s and wayfair because they were missing items and all so I had to figure things out quick.. hope you get this resolved
How much did it cost to do the electricity and gasline? Cant we just use propane?
You can use propane I just chose to make this permanent by hooking it to my gas line. Material and Labor for this cost me $5k to hardwire, new gas line and electric from main panel. Had to buy the gas conversion kit from charbroil to hook it up
Hey pal looking to get this kitchen. Did you put it together yourself and did you figure out what kind of stone you wanted to put on the back.
I put together the corner myself. The other parts came preassembled. I didn’t figure anything out w the back yet. I’m now trying to learn how to use the thing lol
@@johnnytsang_DP Nice!!! I just got the kitchen the other day. I am doing some concrete work and then putting it together. I was looking at a brick veneer called brick it for the back. I’ll keep you post it if I end up using it
@@georgekosmogiannis8861 I called char broil and they said you can stick stuff on the black back side of the units. I am looking into getting those thin adhesive heat resistant and custom cut it to size. Let me know how it goes.
I am planning to do similar. But, I am not sure how plumbing and electrical arrangements can be made? Did you run plumbing from inside the house or ran the existing water connection from outdoor outlet? If you can share your experience on how did you plan, would be great
What I did was preplan all the plumbing and electrical underground. originally it was dirt and plants on the ground so after they removed everything I measured approx where I want to place sink, grill, fridge etc and measured everything. The challenging part is making sure the bottom inside pieces of the sections have room for me to cut and make way for the plumbing and electric through. I wish charbroil made it in a way so it’s easy electric and plumbing friendly but they made it assuming people use a garden hose to connect for water, and an outlet extension cable to plug the rest. I tried to avoid all that and built it inside. Let’s hope it lasts!
Hello Johnny - I have the same units. I am noticing black smudges and hard rain on my stainless Steele. Do you experience the same, if so, what do you use to remove them
I just got it recently so I don’t see anything like that yet. However I had it covered for the past few weeks and today I took it off and noticed something was living inside (saw some poop) and scratched up the stainless steel! It’s not horrible but it’s noticeable enough for me to be annoyed! I think a squirrel got inside so seriously sucks!
