Endsinger and Zenos both reflect nihilism with different outlets. It's such fascinating narrative, I love it. What I love about Zenos is that he genuinely considers you a kindred soul. He only sees a warrior who's constantly fighting stronger foes and getting stronger for it. At least, that's all he cared about in StB. In EW, he finally realizes (even if he doesn't understand) that other people have reasons that drive them forward. Here, he reaches peak development. It's through his understanding that he goes out of his way to save you and help you, and it's through his one trait you both have in common, that desire for more challenge for the sake of it (oh how many times have we dove head first into savage blind?), that he finally appeals to your adventurer-self that he finally gives you reason to fight him. You can walk away if you want, he won't stop you, but can you really pass up on a challenge?

By the time I got to this point in the finale, I was EXHAUSTED, physically and mentally. I ran the whole of Ultima Thule in a single sitting, finishing The Dead Ends and The Final Day before (And dying SPECTACULARLY alongside friends who were still on to see me to the end), and was running on fumes and sheer force of will, didn't get to bed until 2:30 am, and woke up next morning at about 9:30. I was a GOBLIN the entire day following, until I got home from work and just CRASHED.

That people complained about THIS moment puts all of the complaining about Dawntrail into stark perspective. This is the best moment of storytelling on the series, with themes deeply applicable to utterly human and horrific experiences. Violation, hope, defiance--all your softest sides laid bare in the skin of a mere mortal. "Oh no, I can't win by slamming my keyboard with my open palm, it's too hard!" The lack of self respect is disgusting, and once more the biggest argument against video games being an art form are tge people that play them. Dawntrail is fantastic. This is better, only because it is not the BEGINNING OF A NEW STORY.

Playing as a monk who always hides my weapons made this cutscene feel even better. Its like zenos thinks "I'll keep fighting you even on your terms" after losing his weapon. Love it

This was truly a legendary expansion. Both Shadowbringer and Endwalker are the best game stories I have ever witnessed.

I am still at the beginning of Elpis. Masterful storytelling. I'm not looking forward to DT...

People that hate zenos need t have their heads checked, dude is an absolute blast and an awesome lunatic vilain, hell, i wouls put this dude insanity and charisma on the same level as kefka, so y'all can cry me a river.

The one villain without a friggin sad backstory.. just a kill crazy bastard who wants a challenge. Yeah ok he had a dick of a father and a dick of a grandfather but he chose his path to feeling alive and it didn't matter what stood in his way.

Rewatching this after Dawntrail ending. Man...

writing a shallow, widely disliked villain into the grand finale of a 10 year long story and having him completely steal the show is just ridiculously good writing, and the perfect cap off to ishikawas time writing for this game. its a real shame shes in the main writers seat anymore, but she basically single handedly carried this games story from an inconsistent mess to something truly unforgettable

She's the endwalker, at the edge of the Universe. This is a bit special to me personally speaking as a friend back in college told me of a book he thought up of writing called the last molecule on the edge of the Universe. I came up with the cover art but nothing came of it because the friendship ended for superfluous reasons.

Dawntrail's messy final villain made me appreciate Zenos even more! Come back, my friend...

Idk why even after knowing all the horrible things he did. Why did his death make me so sad? The first time it didn't all the way in storm blood but in EW? I felt like i lost a "friend"?

Man, endwalker and shadowbringers story was so good, especially as someone that used to skip the story before the two expansions.

I was in full blown tears but even watching Livingway know their place and not intervene was an incredible detail.

They missed an opportunity to have the spirits of all the comrades behind WoL when he delivers the final punch. Would’ve been epic

I wish one day they will make a 'hard' or 'ultimate' 1v1 against zenos here. Would be cool to have a harder difficulty version of this moment. But I might be in the minority with that.
