One does not need to have an Amateur Radio License, or a GMRS license to own and listen to either radio type. I would suggest getting either, but if you are just listening, no license is necessary.

It's easy to get a ham license and GMRS is even easier. I have hundreds of licenses from the FCC from 1.6 mhz to 80 GHz

There is so many people like myself that have no job no money and cannot prepare. The state of our country now is so fragile and so bad that no company is hiring and just collecting resumes until after the election. Trillions have gone to everyone but our citizens and we are suffering from it. When I see help from the current admin to help me keep my home and food on my table in the way of a job and some monetary assistance I will just resign myself to voting against them.

Yes, you can just put them into your scanner and manually put in A frequency it gives you the option to analog or Digital that refers to DMR
