Manx Grand Prix 2024 - Kirk Michael (2)
Monday race day. All except for one of the races were held on this one day. It had been a rough week weather wise with so much rain, winds, low cloud, the odd burst water pipe, you name it. Everything got in the way of trying to run a race meeting. Only just managing to complete the race program by running all races as one or two lap affairs. Anyway, this spot in Kirk Michael was good to watch from, you can see and hear them for nearly the whole stretch through the village. The bikes and riders I've captured here are from the joint Classic Senior and Junior race.

This was Thursday's qualifying session. Good spot to spectate, you can go behind the grass bank where I was or outside the church on the other side of the road. There were portaloos on both sides and parking for cars and bikes. I took a few passes of the bikes from the different classes, including the classic bikes, and spliced them all together for this clip. Filmed in August 2024.
A New Day Festival 2024 - Sandy Denny Project, Sweet, Curved Air, Hawkwind.

A few shortened clips stuck together to show the range of music that goes on at this wonderful festival. The clip of Sweet is a lot shorter than I wanted but my phone camera froze while I was filming that bit, and I didn't find out until I played it back when I got home. Anyway, come to Kent next year and enjoy this, my favourite music festival. Filmed in August 2024
Tangerine Dream at A New Day Festival 2024

The original Tangerine Dream were formed in Germany in 1967 and are considered a pioneering act in electronic music. When their founding member Edgar Froese died in 2015 it left the band with no original members left. However they continue the legacy of sound with the current line up here, Thorsten Quaeschning, Paul Frick, and Hoshiko Yamane. Filmed in August 2024

My third visit to the Chickenstock festival in Kent. A really good small festival, recommend it. I only managed to do one day at it this year, Sunday, the last day. At this site near the village of Shawbost are the reconstructed buildings of a Mill and Kiln, which were in use up until the 1930's. Its design and construction are of the type introduced by the Vikings during their ruling of the Western Isles (from the 8th to the 11th centuries). Arnol Blackhouse, Isle of Lewis

Dating from around 1880, this traditional crofters cottage, know as a 'blackhouse' has been preserved almost as the family would have known it when they moved out in 1966, complete with its smoking peat fire adding to the authenticity of this visit. I would say this is one of the 'must see's when you're on Harris and Lewis. Filmed in June 2024

Bullers of Buchan, a spectacular area of sea cliffs, a tiny hamlet, and a collapsed sea cave. It's on the Aberdeenshire coast in Scotland, a few miles south of the old port town of Peterhead. The gorge, which is near Braemore in the Scottish Highlands is looked after by the National Trust for Scotland. A National Nature Reserve, it's a spectacular sight. I can't quite remember exactly where on the island I filmed this, but it is somewhere along the south east coast, either on or near the 'Golden Road'. It looses focus a couple of times but stick with it, it really is an interesting island to drive around. Filmed in June 2024.

Yes it was a nice little thing and quite rare but it needed some further restoration which I wasn't really up to. Sold it about five years ago.

This isn't the Bullet though. The Bullet was a 350cc. This one is a Crusader, which was only built as a 250cc.

No not really. The Classic model currently being made by Royal Enfield is to try and continue the original design of the 350 and 500 Bullet. Made first in the UK, and then since 1962 made in India. The bike on my video here is the 250cc Crusader, a bike with similar design looks to the old Bullet, but production of it ended in 1965, and as tooling had not been supplied to Enfield India it was never made again.

Beautiful, I owned a 1959 model, exactly like this 1969-1971, at 10yrs old when purchased it needed a full rebuild but happy days. Your bike sounds fabulous, that exhaust note was a blast from the past. Classic model, promoted by Geoff Duke when originally sold.

I did this in the early 80's, I seem to recall we had to get passers-by on the boat to get it low enough in the water to pass through!
There was a height gauge at the lock before the tunnel, our hire boat fitted under ok but we still had to duck down in the tunnel. Nice section of canal though.
