I recommend tightening the bottom screw instead of messing with the threaded bracket. Mine was already bottomed out.

This ammo was reloaded using the Lee Loader for 30-30. My first attempt at reloading 3030. This compares my reloads to the factory loads of Hornady 160 gn FTX. I used a Winchester Model 94 AE.

Stop your spent primers from gathering under your press or having to drill a hole in your bench. The price is right!

Its cause you have a shitty press, having the cap or pin in or out doesnt matter
Buffalo Bore is pushing em at 2153, are y'all using magnum pistol primers?
Buffalo Bore also uses a different powder. Might be Lil Gun. But I’m pretty sure it’s not H110/W296 because at max load (21 grains) it’s quite compressed and still nowhere near 2000 FPS exiting a carbine barrel. That being said, 1700+ for a 158 grain XTP is a mighty amount of punch and still nothing to sneeze at.
@@hanson544 Agreed. However, if you want magic, the 92 platform can handle heavy 357 Magnum loads, and 20 grains of 296 can launch a 140 grainer at 2390 FPS, or a 150 at 2310, and a 158 grainer at roughly 2250 FPS from a 20" barrel.
Speaking and touching the machine will mess up the read out It should be dead silent In that room.
@@gnarkillgnarkill7725 machine is up for sale on eBay if you're interested... also have two more...
Buy a Dillon. Spend your time actually reloading and not monkeying with a sh*t press.
@@larryd1296 lol, no thanks, keep the 800 bucks buy more primers ✌️
Yea, I've encountered that. The worst part in situations like that, the primer is lost.
That's a good load right there. I run 158gr x-treme w/16.5 h110 @1.580 o.a.l. thing makes for nice kick in my taurus 627 .357. The brass doesn't like it much though, I get about 3-4 thou stretch on my brass length after every shot.
Damn
Ive loaded many rounds on the same press . Good little press.
Sounds like your banished to the laundry room... May the dryer keep you warm😂
Ive got the same press loaded many rounds . Well worth the money.
Are you shooting those out a bolt action ?
Lever action Model 94
@@Rk-mz4bb I use the Hornady FTX bullets which are designed for lever guns,
Thanks for the reply learned something today. New subscriber.
@RookieReloader have you had any issues with feeding when you used this kit? It says that it's not recommended for any lever, semi or pump actions. I've seen they do good for saa, but don't know if it'd be the same for a lever action.
Mine sits flush. But it still leaks powder and it goes into the grooves and i would have to brush the powder back in the jar.
Sounds like the powder is still getting past the gasket. I would try to determine which side of the gasket is leaking and try tightening down that thumbscrew first.
@@RookieReloader yeah there is a lot that sits on the left side. And I would have to brush the powder back. The rubber gasket is in contact
It's not the pressure that should be affecting the crimp, it's the stroke. If your die is set correctly, the press should max out its stroke as the crimp is set. If its not the crimp will be variable and inconsistent. Sounds like you have it set a little too deep, kind of hard to say without a clear close-up shot. If your brass is consistent in length, there's no reason the stroke should be different. I hope this helps. Are you single loading those, as those types of projectiles are not recommended for tube type magazines. I can use them in my Savage 99 because it uses a rotary mag, but you're chancing a tip to primer detonation aren't you?
These are the Hornady FTX bullets with the polymer tips so they should be fine in a lever gun. Do you have the Lee crimp die? I will have to email Lee and see what they say about the play and the pressure applied during the stroke. Thanks for your feedback.
Great topic, as a reloader it's more possible to double charge on pistol cases than rifle. Normally a rifle case is charged to within case capacity, so it would overflow if double charged. A pistol case (9mm) can easily accept 2 charges of pistol type (TITEGROUP) and not show it.
Not bad, once your comfortable you need to do a ladder test on them. Johnnies reloading bench shows this in action. I generally don't video my ladder tests, as it takes a bit more editing than I care for.
A 2x4 with a notch under the press will help guide the primers out better. People also 3D print tray stands.
That and a pound of black powder you are good to go. I’ve always wanted one for my 45-70 and black powder loads.
Having the pin in or not shouldn’t matter. Pretty sure I’ve done it without before.
Pin is sized in the middle to properly size neck, near as I can tell. It's working well w proper lubrication.
I started out on one of those presses and wore it out. What are you doing?
That's an extra press, I do most everything on the Lee Loadmaster. (357, 9 mm) decided to try 30-30 so just taking it one step at a time.
My #1 rule of thumb with lee progressive presses that gives me 100% reliably with lee pro 1000, lee 6 pack, and load master - I prep, size, and prime all my cases off the press
How did they shoot? Thats a good looking bullet, i like it.
It just ran out of momentum. A longer barrel may change those results.
You make sacrifices for speed. The real accuracy comes when you use one of those fancy auto trickling powder measures that go by actual weight and not volume. When I’m doing more precise rifle rounds I will trickle up to weight. For plinking rounds volume measurements are good enough.
What’s the length of your tool? I can hear the cylinder moving so I know it doesn’t have a lever.
6" revolver
Do you seat and crimp with the same die? I got away from that some years ago. I seat with the standard die and use the factory crimp die as the last stage.
I too use the factory crimp as the last stage. 3/4 of a turn looks good but still need to crono my latest batch.
I’ve load that H110/296 with 357 between 110gr xtp and 185gr xtp. Sure is some fun shooting powder. Lil Gun is another fun powder but I heard it can cause problems with revolvers.
I have never cared for the Loadmaster priming so I took mine off.
Sell it and buy a Lee 6 pack pro, problem solved. I sold both my load masters after reloading for 5 minutes on the 6 pack pro....
The 6 pack pro has my attention as well, even though my loadmaster runs practically flawless i still want the 6 pack for the extra die space.
The problem is not the disk, it's the height of the powder dispenser. You are simply making the gap bigger by sanding the disk. Sand or file the metal piece that the powder dispenser sits on that will lessen the gap and prevent leakage and buildup of powder.
Indeed I did file the metal where the screws are allowing the dispenser to close further, but the plastic surface must also be flat to keep the rubber gasket in constant contact. I'd say it's 99 percent fixed.
Upon further research with credit to Fortune Cookie 500 I believe the answer has to do with the cone shaped surface of the seating die which is up inside the die itself. Since the diameter on the top of my powder coated bullet is smaller than the plain lead bullet it is moving higher within that cone shape and therefore is not seating the same.
That is correct. The bullet seating pin is not a flat surface but shaped like the tip of the bullet. I believe the Lee pin is a rounded shape so your bullet is taking up more of that area.
O man good tip 🤘
You may want to try the adjustable charge bar instead of the rotors ? You can dial in the charge you want .
Turrent
I changed my screws over to cap head screws. Then using a ball end hex wrench makes it easier to tighten after I push the retainer in all the way. The next case will spread it out to the correct width. Works like a charm!

interesting
You only need case ĺube on bottle neck cases for rifles. Carbide dies are used for straight wall pistol cases
I tried no lube initially but I notice a big difference when using it
Lee Junkmaster. "Right out of the box had a problem with..." No need to go any further, it's a Lee. I wouldn't trust my life to ammo loaded on that thing.
Remove the deprimer pin from your resizing die and put the die in the primer position, this will help alignment and it also push the case down while the primer is being seated. You'll have to get a universal deprimer for the deprimer station. Setting up your loader this way creates less wear on the shell plate and the rim of the case
Make sure your primer feed wedge is tight every so often, mine came loose and I was having a horrible time loading until I found out the problem.
I use Franklin arsenal, just spray the brass in my container and shake it up and let them dry. Quick and easy.
hope you know that way is way wrong! you don't weigh the powder in the brass because the brass all doesn't weigh the same and the difference in that weight can over charge your load so stop doing it.
I zero the scale for each piece of brass because yes they are all slightly different. How come none of these companies has figured out how to build a scale into the progressive press?
@@RookieReloader now thats a great question i believe it because they trust their powder measurer
This is a good tip. I wonder what happens. Either the manufacturer has some difference in their powder through the day. Or, in my opinion this is more likely, the smallest grains in the package always fall to the bottom and pack tighter. Bottom of a bottle of powder is going to always have more grains per volume I would be willing to bet
Thank you for your insights on that I really appreciate it.
good luck on your journey in reloading. try gunblue 490 hes the best ive seen.
loose ammo is not a good idea
By the way good idea on fixing the powder leaks.
You might check out the bullet seating stem profile. If it is round your seating depths will change. Maybe a flat profile would be more consistent. Also on the Loadmaster recheck the seating depth when you go full progressive. I have found with 5 cases in the machine seating depth changes.
Yes. Thank you for mentioning that. I see differences too with 5 cases going vs one case used on set-up. I may do a video on that.
I have 2 Lee stands and no flex at all . I have the loadmaster. And a single sage . It works great
Why not glass and sandpaper? Glass for the flatness and sandpaper for the abrasive.
A full stroke of the handle.... It doesn't matter how much it wobbles. If the handle bottoms out every time the cartridges will all be the same. A wobbly table doesn't change how far your press will seat projectiles, you would have to adjust your seating die to change the O.A.L
Primers shift on that little lifter? More or less powder shaking through wobble depended? IDK
