I want to do biathlon but I live in the south lol.

So how do you like the change so far? It does make the watching experience longer at least and there will be more anticipation because the better athlketes start later. I must admit that in past seasons I would not watch after number 30 or so but with the word cup leader Preuss starting 64 in Oberhof earlier today I watched longer that I normally would. It is interesting that even with the conditions of the track today that they didn't convert badk the last seasons start order rules. For the ski speeds it didn't seem to have an insane as Justine and Elvira were still the fastest along with Lampic.

Great job explaining all the new rules, Brian. It does sound more fair but I can understand where some better athletes might not want to start later and risk getting caught in "slower" traffic on the course. Also, $9+ million in prize money is fabulous for the sport. Exciting season to come!

The Massstart on 18 March 2012 had participants from 16 different countries: Germany (5), Norway (4), Russia (3), Ukraine (3), France (2), Poland (2), Slovakia (2) and one woman from Belarus, Canada, Czechia, Finland, Italy, Lithuania, Slovenia, Sweden and U.S.A. Nowadays (2025) 18 of them are not active, 9 have a function as official, 2 are still athlete with a question mark and 1 (Anastasiya Kuzmina was still participating on 22-12-2024 in the IBU Mixed Relay in Obertilliach at the age of 40). Of these 30 women 24 retired at the age between 30 and 40; 6 retired at the age under 30; Magdalena Neuner and Marie Laure Brunet (both at 25), Miriam Gössner and Elise Ringen (both at 26), Helena Ekholm-Jonson at 27 and Tina Bachmann at 29. 8 women retired at the (last) Massstart in Khanty-Mansiysk/Oslo/Tyumen. 7 women didnot retired in a WC-race, but in a IBU Cup race.

The Masstart on 18 March 2012 was not only the last race for Magdalena Neuner (*09-02-1987 at the age of 25), but also the last race for Helena Ekholm-Jonson (*06-09-1984 at the age of 27 and Anna Bogaliy-Titovets (*12-06-1979, at the age of 32)

It’s good to see actual stats backing up Tarjei as one of the best relay racers, I’ve noticed he seems to step up a level when it comes to them. Both him and Johannes being on the relay team every time they raced last season (since Johannes didn’t race in Ruhpolding) is so impressive.

Three out of four of this Swedish team has been working with Swedish national media after their biathlon careers. Björn Ferry has been an expert commentator for national television for several years now. Helena Ekholm used to do the same, but has been replaced by Mona Brorsson this season. Carl Johan Bergman is doing national radio with Uschi Disl (who speaks excellent Swedish). Bergman was also the expert commentator on TV for the 2018 Olympics. Zidek also used to work for Eurosport ages ago.

Lisa is still injured, Justine is not yet so good at shooting, Ingrid has health problems and was only there at the very beginning in Hochfilzen. Oberhof won't start for another two weeks. Where are Franzi Preuss, Ella Halvarsson, Jeanne Richard, Anamarija Lampic, Selina Grotian? I think it's time to get out of here.

This reminds me of an ESPN/NFL Films show, “Dream Season”. They pitted several of the best teams in NFL history against each other in computer simulations, then spliced classic NFL Films footage of said teams into a “game”, complete with tongue-in-cheek commentary. Really fun Brian. I think this video actually reflects how interesting the Woman's racing has been for the past few years and even more so this year with Tandervold and Vitozzi out. Its giving a lot of space for the youngsters to come out and surprise - which they are doing and the racing has been really tight. That Z-score and this methodology really nails it. Great concept and super fun!

WOW! I did not see (or remember) this video from a year ago, but just saw Uldal do the same thing in zeroing coverage from Annecy. I had the same reaction, "what?" That is the smoothest rifle to standing mount ever. Guy has changed the game, no way others won't copy.😀 I also thing he is reaching over/around the sights, maybe holding the bolt handle and base more than actually grabbing sight body.

No computer needed actually (in US). Eurovisionsport app on the iPhone (would assume Android too), then Chromecast it right to the TV. And I'm glad they have gone to "no spoiler" photo clips for the videos too. But don't watch out of order is my recommendation since Chad and Ellen will give away the earlier results (so aggravating). Maybe Eurovision will make their Google Play Store app smart TV compatible.

People here make an argument that because Neuner retired early that makes here more legitimate to be the GOAT, But the same could be said about Magdalena Forsberg who started here biathlon carrer at the age of 27 and you could imagine how much more she could achieved if she started earlier. So for me Magdalena Forsberg is no doubt the GOAT of biathlon - her consistency in winning globes and overall dominance is unquestionable.

Every shooting platform, more specifically, every barrel requires finding the right ammunition for it. Even then, rimfire ammunition is notoriously inconsistent and can yield "flyers", which are more a result of the ammunition than the rifle. This is why Match grade rifles require Match grade ammunition specific for that rifle/barrel which can only be arrived to by testing various manufacturers ammunition and different batch number. Though Anschutz rifles are incredibly well engineered, very popular and considered the gold standard, I'd wager that the results presented here are not an indication that the other two rifles are less accurate. Ammunition, rifle fitment, rifle action and shooter preference play a huge role in the results down range...

Team Norway keeps the form longest, from first raceday to end of season. the Swedes are usually strong in the beginning- only to fade as we get past xmas. Vetle Sjaastad Christiansen was often the final 4th man for Norway- and only had to stay upright to win for them. QFM faded badly at the end of most races last year, Im surprised he was best in Soldier Hollow... Laegreid, 2xBoe and Vetle Chr. must be the Golden Team of 23/24.

An interesting topic, but i'm not sure that stats reflect all that is happening in a race. Lots of other factors to be considered like the race conditions (weather , light), each course profile is different, situation each athlete is in (race pressure, tired from previous races, are they leading, chasing, so far behind or ahead they are cruising etc).

Great video! It was a wonderful race, I watched most of it on cabin hill across from you coach. I had fun running back and forth with biathlon trex and drinking beers with Deedra’s Fam Club. One of the highlights was sitting next to one of your old elementary school teacher, Vincent. She was very proud of you! Brian, are you going to be able to get Grace to do a vid with you? I would love to hear how she deals with her cross eyed dominance.

This was fun getting a participants perspective of a race, and I also liked hearing Vincent's thought on competing and being an athlete.. And it was fun getting to relive Luki's attack on Nawrath at the top of the hill, which happened right in front of me.

Fire video Brian! Thank you Vincent for the bike ride tips. looking forward to consuming 1200 calories in gels next time i go out!

I think this will definitely impact more at the High School/College level, as the discrepancy between budgets is more apparent.
