Wonderful material from a beautiful concert. Four months later I was at a concert in Poland covered in frost and snow. The atmosphere of a great event in Poland at that time, from which the brilliant album Poland was created.

Were Tangerine Dream a cult band in the 80s? As a child it was all about Micheal Jackson , Prince , Madonna , Queen, The Police, Kate Bush etc .. And i didnt see much exposure given to them until i got older.

The original and best electronic music outfit ever

It is rare to see Froese or Franke with their hands on the keyboard. There's a moment 70 minutes into this where one can see Froese play a few chords and he turns around and looks like he tells the cameraman to go away. Very fancy stage lighting about 75minutes into this.

Jammer dat TD niet de hoofd-act van de avond was op M-idzomer had een veel betere afsluiting geweest dan dat Explosions in the Sky wat ons betreft.... maar goed van TD hebben wij genoten vanaf een zitplaats op het 'balkon' aan de rechter kant.... dat dan wel weer! :)

Pierre was criminally under-rated and passed away much too soon for my liking. Alan was a giant and I loved his playing too. Rest in Peace gentlemen.

Two very different drummers, Pierre more classically trained, and both sounding far better with their respective bands, Yes and Gong. There’s a real skill to playing a solo musically, and as Duke Ellington famously said, “If it don’t swing, it don’t mean a thing”. I’ve heard Tony Williams, Billy Cobham, and Ginger Baker, playing live solos with infinitely more musical feel by making their drums swing and sing with dynamics. These two sound as if they’re competing with one another with noisy technical chops, but both struggling to create any real musical statement. Playing in front of an audience of drummers can produce this effect. But most of the time, less is more. 👍🏼

Has anyone got an equipment list especially of synths used ? What do they use for those iconic harpischord type stabs with long sustain, used on many albums like Exit?

I learned about Tangerine Dream when I was 19 and I regret that I was not 19 years old in 1983 to experience this miracle in Lycabettus. The Greek audience knew what to expect, since on 31/3/81 they welcomed another great German band. The Eloy!!! Now, at 54, I still get the same thrill from those sounds! And of course I traveled for T.D.'s concert. 11/3.24 to enjoy them up close on the national lyric stage of Athens. A lot of people in my country like German music, especially kraut, stoner/psychedelic and space rock, they always had a lot of fans.
