Wow thank you so much for explaining the options! Not even my doctor is really explaining in detail, I am going to therapy wasting time my pain is unbearable for a year now! I’ve gained weight and can’t walk ! Seal and tired of my situation. Hopefully it will be better soon!

I have this injury, and am about 8 weeks out right now. Hopefully I can skip surgery. I thought it was just a sprain, so I didn't have it seen until I was about 5 weeks post injury (that was obviously a mistake, but it is what it is...). One thing that really is a good indication you may have a Lisfranc injury is all of the blood at the bottom of your foot after injury. If you see this - get seen right away. After realizing there may be more wrong with my foot than just a sprain, I found a good Orthopedic surgeon, board certified, who specializes in feet. XRays and MRI showed that I had 2 broken bones with the Lisfranc injury. There had been so much healing in those 5 weeks, and the foot was holding together very well, that we decided to give it more time to see how healing progresses. I'm not completely out of the woods yet, and may need surgery later, but for now the ortho suggests holding off. If I remember, I will come back here and update as the progress goes. At home after the injury, I had kept the foot well compressed, stayed completely off it, for a good 4+ weeks my foot never touched the ground. I could finally wear a boot at about 5 weeks. Even then, I only used that sparingly for when I had to go out, and stayed off it 95% of the rest of the time. I work from home, so this was fortunate for me. I used a wheelchair while at home to get around. It is 8 weeks now and I can walk in sneakers. Still limp a bit, and have less stability, but I can walk slowly. An arch support helps greatly. The injury has also aggravated some arthritis in my big toe. Hoping that gets better with time as things settle. And hoping to strengthen my foot. I can't run, I walk slow, but again it's only been 8 weeks. Doctors say 3 months to 75%, 6 months to 90%, and a year to 100%.

This video is very informative. The doctor has not shown any x-rays of my injury. This is a workman's comp deal. So I think they may not need to even do any surgery. Still, think I will get a second opinion, since the MRI and CT scan came back with no sign of injury.😅

I am 6 weeks post-op after a subtalar fusion. This is the easiest way to explain to my family what was done to me. I have dealt with this pain since childhood. I'm still having swelling and fatigued quite often but on the mend! Getting my walking cast next week, I'm hoping that will help with the swelling in my leg and that I'll be able to start rebuilding muscle again. Good luck to all who have this procedure! Blessings ❤

The graphics are amazing! Could you show range of motion after subtalar fusion or triple arthrodesis? A lot of people looking at posterior tibial tendon dysfunction surgery, get really scared of triple arthrodesis when they hear they will lose side to side motion. I think it would help to show what this means in real life.

I just love how these doctors say that ankle fusion surgery is not a big deal. It is in fact a very big deal. It’s a long painful and difficult process and recovery. There’s a possibility that your ankle may not fuse as happened to me. After seeing 8 different surgeons and one being honest enough to admit he wouldn’t do them because there to difficult to do and recovery far to long. So now I’m facing a 2nd surgery. And all I’m hoping for is less pain. I don’t anticipate I will walk any better. Some people think these doctors are God. I don’t. Especially since I got a drop foot from a minimally invasive surgery to decompress a nerve. After they do their damage it’s all on you to figure out. So do your due diligence because they all think they’re a wonder doctor till they’re not.

I confirm cycling and swimming with no limits. I do on daily basis 15 minutes of elliptical bike, it is best for fused ankles, at least 6 months since surgery. I have both ankles fused, one is 2 years old and strong the other only 1 year since opperation.

This is by far the best explanation of lisfranc injuries I've come across it really helps me to visually understand my injuries. I have metatarsal fractures AND a chip fracture on the medial cuneiform and it has been over a week since my cast was removed , but I still have pain in the foot and there is a big gap between my 1st and 2nd toe but the doc won't do a follow up CT scan to check the healing of the chip fracture. He only relies on xrays. They also did not mention a ligament tearing.

@@dreams5x208 Your doc is supposed to tell you how much it has healed, how much weight bearing to start with and refer you to a physiotherapist who can help. If he has given you the okay to bear weight on your foot, I would initially use crutches as a support. There are videos on TH-cam showing how to do this and gradually taper off crutches.

Although I am very active in sports, I decided to NOT go the surgery route. Having a little less "explosion" or athleticism at my age and level is not that big of a deal. It still sucks knowing that it will not be worth me ever playing competitive basketball again. My passion and main sport for 30+ years. But, I will still stay active and hopefully recover mentally!
