Just picked up this beautiful neglected 2003 SL500 on 3 piece 20 inch wheels with the ABC suspension that was not working when I went to go purchase it. Nice squared away box
Thank you !
Why would someone take all the emblems off that car and yes I would definitely do the coilover swap but ABC is also cool too
This girl was definitely in rough shape ! I’m glad I could save her
Don’t do a swap, either fix it oem or upgrade the lines with hydraulic compression fittings. That car without abc is just a 20 year old carolla
@@DonZenOfficial I would definitely love to upgrade to compression fittings. And I forsure am keeping the ABC system , there is no point in owning this car if it doesn’t have it in my opinion
Can I use this video for a 2009 c300 ?????? Is the same similar procedure?????
Yea pretty much the same
could these turbos be removed without lowering the subframe ?
I’m honestly not sure. I never worked on the n54 before this time. I do know my boss said it’s easier to drop the motor to replace the turbos. I think it pays 10 hours to do 1 turbo in the car
@@donroni408 😳 10 hrs one turbo ?
@@MrAlpinab7 yep lol 😆
man, those W202 are beautiful now !! Had a c230 kompressor back in 2002, i still miss it to this day
Thank you man. I definitely love them and enjoy them !
Please help me. I need some info. I'm ready to take the Springs out and replace them with h and R. However, I want to know if I can use the same rubber. That's in there or do I have to buy a new one?
Yes you can use the same rubber that’s on top of the spring
And the rear shocks got done yesterday with your great tutorial as a guide !
I’m glad my videos are actually helping people out. Makes me happy to keep making them !
They DO! I’m finding that although some provide great videos on the R129, there are quite a few differences in the later years of that body model, so having your 2000 be the same as mine is especially helpful. There is limited content for later than like 1998. My being brand new to Mercedes makes me truly grateful to people like you who are so willing to share your experiences and expertise!
@@buckboy5674 thank you sir! I will try to keep doing videos on the r129 anytime I do any sort of repair for you! Or if you have any ideas on a certain repair you might need done let me know!
Will do, thanks for the kind offer! I’m on to headliner replacement now, but I have found good guidance at the BenzWorld forum and a pretty good DIY TH-cam.
@@buckboy5674 happy wrenching sir !
Thank you Don! What year is your R129? Is it really just the two bolts to undo on the shock (in addition to removing the plastic control arm cover?} I agree with you on how stinking hard it was on the left side with that white plastic whatever hugging the upper shaft! Your video gave me courage to remove the tank alum panel, thank you! Would you mind sharing a couple of close up pics of the left side curvy black bracket that helps support that evap hose just under the trunk strut)? My before picture was not so good to guide me putting it back.
You’re welcome sir. What’s your email I’ll send you some pics right now ?
GREAT JOB. VERY COMPREHENSIVE. THE JOB IS NOT EASY.
Thank you! I hope the video helps you out
Awesome video man! Keep it up 💯
Thanks man
Did you have to reprogram anything
No reprogramming. Just have to clear transmission codes from transmission control module
What about PB Blast???? let it soak overnight????
I had a lot of it pre soaking already 😓
Great job! Did you ever find the bushing removal tools?
No to be honest I never really looked, I just moved on to the next project. I do need to eventually get one though because my white C43 is going to need them.
You have the gen. 1 ABC system. It's quite faulty. These ABC systems need maintenance every 30k miles plus the filter in the ABC reservoir needs to be changed. 10ltrs of Pentosin CHF-11S for the flush. I have 20ltrs from Amazon at $11 per ltr. The dealership charges $35 per ltr. I have a $125 Foxwell NT510 scanner that does the rodeo test for the flush. I have 2009 SL550 with 951 AMG package. Car has 18k miles on it and no issues with the ABC system.
That’s Awsome man. That’s good information to have. I definitely plan on replacing all accumulators next so they can handle the pressures and don’t blow a line
@@donroni408 - Your probably going to have to do the valve blocks(2x) as well. Each valve block has 4 smaller sensors that have O-rings that need to be replaced. This ABC system is under ALOT of pressure-->200 bar = 3000psi. This job your doing, if successful, costs you anywhere from $3000 to $5000(needs a new pump) from the dealership. You doing it by yourself will save you thousands of dollars. Very time consuming and very laborious.
@@jgonzalesm6 definitely looking forward to saving the ABC system. I appreciate all of the advise. You have a good link for the seals for the valve blocks ?
@@donroni408 - Try FCP Euro. They have ABC valve block seal kits for the solenoids.
Broo, nice vid. What's the size for the bolts used to put the sunroof together in minute 1:00? Thanks a lot!
Aw shoot man. I honestly can’t remember. Either 10 or 13mm. Thanks for the comment!
@@donroni408 appreciate it man, thank you very much for the video and the response, this gives me an idea on how to put the sunroof, thanks man!
@@Aether_King anytime buddy, if you have any questions feel free to ask. It really isn’t hard at all. The hardest part is removing all the trim pieces and handles and whatnot so you can bring the headliner down
@@donroni408 I really appreciate it man, i'm in the process to put a new sunroof, I also was wondering how to remove the trim but haven't found any video about that. In your experience where should I start from? Thanks a lot man :)
@@Aether_King man the handles and sunroof switch area all suck to do to be honest. I used a flat blade screw driver I believe. They aren’t held in with screws. All like some weird clips that I kind of hooked in. You need to pry to un clip then pull them down. Let me find a video for you

Hey can you help me this fault code what is it? ***the gear is implausible or the transmission is slipping gear 2and3
What car do you have ?
Man, I need some knowledge! I have a 04 c230 kompressor. I have what appears to be transmission fluid coming into my coolant reservoir. Any suggestions on what might be the issue?
I don’t personally know much about that model but I would figure out how the transmission cools its fluid and figure out if there is a leak where fluid can get into the cooling system, example: my black c43 had an internal leak in the tranny cooler and coolant was getting pumped into the transmission
@donroni408 I appreciate the suggestion. I will take a look and figure that out. I don't know anything about this car. I bought it as a project car. Thinking it would be fun and give me something to during projects on the house. I'm finding out NOPE, not fun, and my mechanic skills are very basic...
@@Steve-sq4qn I wish you luck my man !
Great video bro, glad you decided to fix the ABC instead of putting lesser coilovers in. These cars were designed to ride with that system, and although coils are an option, theres nothing like ABC. I'm in the process of replacing all of my accumulators in my W220 S55 Currently. Shouldn't be too hard of a job. Make sure you hop on MBWorld, specifically the W220 section and look for (2) Threads. Joe P's S55 build thread - Which is mine, and "Lets start another ABC Thread" Which also has a ton of great information on the ABC system. Print out the "Treatise" as "Maw" the member calls it. It's the ABC Bible. Good work brotha, and much success moving forward.
Thank you bro. I will definitely be checking those threads out. I want to replace all the hoses before they rupture. I honestly haven’t driven it since I did the pump, well I replaced inner and outer tie rods. And some control arm bushings and ball joints in the front. But I’m finally in the process of getting the hood and replacement used bumper body worked and preparing for paint. Looking forward to those threads. This is my first ABC car and man I love how the ABC handles. I’ve never felt anything like it, I don’t understand why people gut it with coil overs. To each their own.
i have this car and i completely went thru and replaced all hoses, accumulators, and pulsation dampers. also the pump and 4 struts. it is not that hard. you will have to replace the old hoses or they will pop taking out the pump
I’m going to have to do the same thing. I pretty much haven’t touched it since this video. Been taking care of a few other things. But honestly I love the ABC system. The few times I drove it since this video, man the suspension is so Awsome. There is like no body roll on turns it’s amazing.

Hi buddy, I have 2005 ML500 with codes P0715, P0730 having shift issues
Have you done the conductor plate ?
You didn't show the rear springs being done what happened to those you could have time lapse that

Nice 👍🏼
Thank you 🙏
Got mine for $1700 all together about 5k including spent with price of the car . New coilover suspension paint arms audio system . But running amazing now. All issues addressed on it.
I’m loving mine so far. I’ve replaced all front controls arms and inner/outer tie rods. Still need to get a new front bumper and do some paint. I definitely plan on keeping the ABC system though.
You really need to prime the abc pump by turning the no pulley manually to move in fluid before the first start. This is one of the most critical steps
Shoot. Definitely missed that step. Thanks for the heads up !
I’ve been working on the front suspension of a 99 C43. Replaced control arms, sway bar bushings and ball joints, but having trouble locating shocks. Any suggestions? I want to replace with Bilsteins, but I can only find them for lowered suspension.
They don’t make them anymore. I forget but there is another model Benz that shares the same shocks. You’re gonna have to ask all the Facebook pages. My buddy is running into the same problem right now . I can’t even get them for our cars through my supplier
I hope your son feels better!
So ive got a brabus d6 version of this car. Looks like the ev12 but its a om648 nice looking thing. I bought it as id had a w211 some years ago and truly missed it. I bought it with a transmission fault and me and my friend had a garage like yours and it was sat at the back ready to get done but 3 weeks my friend passed away and so lost the garage as couldn't afford it on my own so now the car is sat in a car park and im going to try to swap the transmission outside in a car park. I barely have any tools left either as most thngs have gone too so wish me luck man as its pretty cold in the uk and hopefully a different transmission will sort out my problem 😂 great video by the way. Very easy to watch and listen to. Thank you
I’m so sorry to hear about your friend 🙏, what kind of issues what your transmission having, did you try to replace the conductor plate? That fixes usually most issues with the 722.6 transmission but you have to also clear the transmission codes otherwise the vehicle won’t know that you did the repairs . Let me know if you have any other questions and best of luck my friend
@donroni408 it's had a new conductor plate but don't know if it was cleared. I got it up in the air yesterday and its been leaking ATF from the front corner plug. I know it's pretty common but i dropped oil and only 3 litres came out so I think it ran low possibly causing it to not work. It selects gears but won't move. Whilst in gear it will only rev to 2k but revs fine in P and N. Going to take a look tomorrow as I've got another transmission in the boot. And thank you 😊
You might also want to take a look at the TCM it’s behind the carpet at the front passenger footwell. When it leaks at the connector it will make its way through the wires in pump fluid into the TCM, I had that happen on two cars that I bought. But I would forsure scan the transmission with a scanner that can access the transmission codes, I replaced a conductor plate once and the issue wasn’t fixed until I cleared the codes and then it ran fine . Let me know what happens
@donroni408 thank you I'll take a look. Unfortunately not today though as my youngest is now poorly so looking after him. Only day I had free 😂 sods law. But I'll report back once I get chance to get back over to the car. Thanks again :)
Dang, you look so cool doing this.
Thank you. I really enjoy doing it

Thank you bro. Yea man so much stuff was left loose or missing . I replace the pump and haven’t lost pressure in the system since so far. How ever I do have a hissing accumulator I need to replace that’s behind the drive wheel. I’m looking forward to bringing this baby back to life

My s500 was all wet of oil underneath when the pump blew. A 2000 model with now 250000 miles on, engine goes flawless. Good v8's these are made of european castings not that cheap grime from china.
man I agree with you, I love these cars and these engines and transmission they put in these beasts are just about bullet proof
@@donroni408 v8 steel block, no aluminium very reliable.
I bought a overhauled abc pump for 400 euros for a s500 7 years ago.
Is it still going strong ?
@@donroni408 yes, pre 2006 mercs are stil reliable cars with good engines and gearboxes, later models i don't trust so much. Much of the castings coming from china now and they can't do it right under constant temperature of the melted metal i guess which is the reason things break down.

I’m doing a swap on my 03 c230 kompressor because changed the conductor and fluid and filter but it only acts half way right on cold start then after you park won’t move at all. Giving a P2502 code gear implausible and slipping. So I found a use one I’m going to swap in. Will I need to program it are can I just do the relearn process and it be good.
