The Adventures of Steve & Laurie: On Vacation

Long story - short, we both lost our spouses to cancer in 2014. We met in 2016 and married in 2017. We retired during the summer of 2023 and hit the road in our RV. Our goal was to create videos so our children (all 6 of them), parents, and extended family could watch where our travels and adventures have taken us. You're invited to come along and follow us on our RV trip, going on cruises, living life in The Villages and anything else we get ourselves into!

Join us we take you on a short trip from Sawgrass Grove to the Homestead Recreation Center located in The Villages, Florida! Not only will we tour the rec center, but, we'll show you the nature trail, astronomy pads, dog park and beautiful pool!

I love all your videos showing all the sites. Very informative and helpful when looking for just the right site. Is there any tips or tricks to getting a reservation during the winter months in the midwest? Seems like everything is always booked when I look online.
it can be very difficult when booking campsites.. especially Florida State Parks! Try calling the campground directly, sometimes they have sites available that are not listed on their website. Thanks for watching!

Ive seen other videos where people complained about the smell (assuming it was algae) and excessive bugs (I believe they said it was mosquitoes). Did you encounter any of these issues?
We didn't notice any smell but we did have the "no see ums" from time to time. We used a product called thermocell to help keep them away. you can find it at Walmart. This was one of our favorite campgrounds. Thanks for watching!

Mine inflates to 10 psi not 15. The pontoons inflate to 3 psi. I just vote my tandem Zepplin about 3 weeks ago. I wonder if Bote changed something?

Did you end up Buying a place in the villages or do you rent? We are getting ready to doing a life style visit.
We did a lifestyle visit in April of '23 and bought a turn key house that week! Since then, 2 sets of our friends have purchased houses! We are not there full time yet, but we're working on it! Our house is in the Sawgrass area. If you have any other questions, feel free to touch base with us, and get in that golf cart and ride, ride, ride!

@@LifesLittleAdventures28 our house is a Tall Pine. We bought it because it came totally turn key (we wanted to rent it out for a year while we still live in Western NY), it had mature landscaping, and finally a beautiful pond in front (no houses). We are minutes away from Sawgrass but town squares were not a priority. When we bought, Newell was being developed and Dabney and lake dehnem didn’t exist. In our opinion Dabney is too far away from everything. Are you doing your lifestyle visit now?

I watched your video and went camping on this side with a tent, the mosquitoes eat me. Repellent doesn’t work! Nom see um a lot !

I’ve seen few videos on this resort but I noticed that no-one grills out, are you able to use your grill ?
You know, that's a great question! I remember people using things like Blackstone griddles but I don't remember grills.

Can you tell me which mounting adaptor you used? Can you steer it?
unfortunately I do not have the specific model number for the mounting adapter. We googled Bixpy dealerships while we were in Florida and found it through them. The motor is fix mounted, so I steer the kayak with the paddle. Works great!!

I miss you guys. I heard a Jimmy Buffet song and immediately thought of Steve. On Memorial Day I said to my husband, "I wonder what Steve and Laurie are doing today?" haha
I know, I know. we have one last RV trip video to make! We have been home for about 3 weeks and it's been non stop work! We're actually beginning to clean out our house to prepare to sell it a year from now. Laurie is a slave driver!!!! hahahaha

My family and I were all in the kitchen while mom is cooking and everyone is waiting for food, haha and I have your video on. You joke about being born in the 70's so my dad asks your age. I say the villages is a 55+ community so somewhere around there. My 35 yr old son said, "She looks good." I agree, it must be that active lifestyle, haha. I wanted to share that with you because what woman doesn't love a compliment?

The only fault of this place was the dog park that had fake grass and it stunk! Despite daily hosing that they did. Real grass would not produce the smell.

the plan is to sell our home during the summer of 2025 after our kids graduate college, and then move permanently to Florida. We have had enough of the terrible taxes and weather! lol

We bought in the village of St. Catherine. Not too far from Sawgrass Grove.

I've been watching videos to find out all I can about the villages and yours popped up. I just discovered the villages from youtube a couple of months ago. Who knew such a place existed? We do camp in out fifth wheel as well but don’t go far. Will sell it when we move south. Are you keeping yours?
