Can you recycle 18650 batteries to salvage the lithium? I use a big vape mod like a man hah. I'm sick of seeing all the used vapes littering the place. I also use power tools that have 18650s in their battery packs. Also my flashlights run on 18650s. Anyways ive got a pile of 18650s that wont charge. I dont want to throw em away because lithium is a finite resource.

Im curious about more smaller projects to extend the life cycle of these batteries that are less ambitious. Cracked open a battery powered hand warmer and saw that it was basically just two 18650s. That’s a small enough project i think I could do that at home. Can you show us that next? The 300 charge cycle limit on these things scares me to much to want to risk nuking my bike, but a hand warmer is at least an independent device that has usefulness.

A power wall from these kinds og batteries would be very cool

The bodies of the vapes are made out of aluminum? I feel like if you had a forge/crucible you could melt down the vapes and use them for building stuff

Lithium battery’s recycle in the low $0.20 per lbs. (0.45kg). The pcb inside recycles around $0.62 per lbs. Apparently it’s profitable on scale to recycle these things but due to the nicotine. Large company’s don’t want to assume responsibility for “bio-hazard” nicotine. Just called a few smoke shops and none recycle vapes or even knew why I was asking. Just a little fyi if someone wants to start a business.

It’s discarded vapes which cause fires in bin lorries. They get crushed and the lithium comes in contact with moisture and catches fire.

Great idea but no way they last

I started vaping wgen it 1st came out and ot was great your mods were durable you saved money because you built your own coils and stuff like that but what it has turned into is way worse for the environment than what it was originally

I tore apart a couple vapes and found depending on the brand they come with standard 18650 cells. I was thinking they could make a really good bike battery if I collected enough. Amazing that someone actually did it.

Will you only be able to charge it less than 300 times (since used) as stated in the datasheet or due to the fact that there has been more than one in it change ?
