Has the gaslight ever made one Bad song or album ever? I mean, American Slang was a little rocky on some tunes, but all experimental stuff is; this song is the best. I really hope they come out with more soon :(

This acoustic version really works well with the theme and lyrics of the song: It's something quiet, minor peaceful and slow. This way some of the lines really hit you straight in your heart. I really dislike the electric album version, which sounds just like any other generic (punk)-rock song. Something you can pump your fist to during a concert. The whole meaning is lost when Brian Fallon screams these lyrics. Seeing there are tons of acoustic versions on youtube the band must have realised this as well at some point.

I kind of feel like this and the Tears for Fears version work MUCH better than the more slow and depressing tone of the Gary Jules version. The message gets across more in the lyrics in this and the TFF version, where with the Gary Jules version people just immediately equate it to a sad song, when its about much more than sadness. The TFF version, which this is clearly based most from, is a beautifully thought out composition lyrically and musically. Very well written song.
