Good comments about choosing a digital accordion over a traditional accordion with reeds. I have played for 65 years acoustic accordions, than first that had an organ built in with a regular accordion, than MIDI accordions again combined with real reed accordion....and now playing Roland 8x ever since it came on the market. I still enjoy playing acoustic and it does have some dynamic and bellows response advantages but those have mostly gone away when the Roland is tweaked with all the things you can customize. It is so nice having not just a single accordion but many different types....if you want a French, German, Italian, jazz, bayan, variety you just select that type of accordion. And being able to layer in from a selection of a couple of hundred different instruments, humanized vocals, pipe organ, Hammond organ, plus a huge number of percussion sounds that you play with your left hand at the same time as your musical selection is amazing. The bottom line....is the audience. While my audience enjoys regular accordion, when you add in all the huge range of tones and combinations...there is no doubt which instrument the audience loves the most. Accordion purists may have issues with a Roland but several of my hard core acoustic players that resisted for years....have converted and went to the "dark side" ;-) For a very beginning accordion player....they can get a used older lower level Roland to get started and it will be fine. The big advantage of a Roland is that tuning won't go sour as it ages and it is more resistant to mechanical issues. You will find Roland repair stations if something electronic goes South....and that will be easier than finding a shop that can do tunes or repairs on a reed accordion today at least in the US.

Ty man. Would a FR 1x V be good for me who has never touched an accordion? And what is the differance between the FR-1,2,3 etc and the BK XK etc?
