Sa totoo lang dapat baguhin na ang educational system sa pilipinas. paggusto talagang mag doctor, dapat diretso na agad. no more premed. Dito sa ibang bansa diretso na kaya bata pa lang sila mga consultants na. And ganun din naman continous education pa rin naman. At hindi naman talaga magagamit ang premed kung doctor na. Waste of time effort and money.

I'm a Fil Am nurse also in Northeast. If any students have interest in surgical residency, may be consider applying to RWJB New Brunswick, NJ. I've seen foreign graduates match there. It's a tertiary hospital Trauma, Cancer hospital with it's own medical school. Stateside Fil Am's are underrepresented in the medical ranks. The interviewee is on point, the commitment and intentions must be something Fil Am's need to face and be encouraged early on and supported. We should push it, our heritage comes from Jose Rizal MD. As for learning Tagalog I'm California born myself and I'm learning. I think practicing with Rosetta Stone, may be watching films with subtitles, and TFC might help bridge the gap. My accent is shaky, I sound like a white person trying to speak Tagalog. I believe a Filipino Business student adapting in Boston to English had an interesting approach. He learned to start thinking in English to improve his verbal response time at Harvard. The rigor of that place has got to be like UP Dilliman in RP. So, I would imagine doing this in Tagalog for med school in RP might help in the clinics. As for accent, I guess practice and coaching might polish it up. Lea Salonga was coached so well she sounded like a Fil Am local born last I heard her. Good luck brah.

I hope more Filipino students go into medicine more than just nursing. PHils don't have enough doctors and have too many nurses. And also more Pinoy doctors in the US instead of just nurses.

I just recently passed the PNLE. And I always have this battle in my mind if I deserve to enter med school. I want to pursue medicine but I feel like I'm unworthy to even try entering medicine. I feel like nobody really believes in me and people will judge me for even trying. And one of my insecurities is not being able to speak in english fluently. I really don't know what to do :(
