Pigeon Racing Interview: A Plan To Save The RPRA?
It seems every fancier in the country has an opinion on how the RPRA should navigate the challenges facing the sport. Usually it's limited to voicing a few suggestions in the pub or during basketing. Some are forward thinking, some are not. Few offer such a dramatic change as those presented by former CEO of the Royal Pigeon Racing Association, Ian Evans.
Here Ian answers questions about his recent proposal for rule changes at the RPRA. Based on the Hall Report of 2016 Ian says "...the proposals abolish the regions to save fanciers and the RPRA money... and facilitate a streamlined one member one vote form of governance at the RPRA". Ian and other like-minded fanciers have prepared the rule change proposals in a format that can be downloaded and submitted to club secretaries for members to vote on in time for the RPRA AGM in January 2025. The document is available here:

So passionate and knowledgable and a gentleman. You could not meet a nicer guy.
What a true pigeon man no secrets they great video mate
What a clever pigeon man he knows what he s talking about
Hopefully this man is listened to and everything goes thru
Ok, I have only just joined the racing pigeon game, and when I say only, I’m yet to have a race…..but I am ready to get some young birds etc,,,in Jan,and do have some stock birds…. I’m not new to Pigeons, but the sport and politics are new to me, the racing club I have joined is very small and a very close group. The RPRA seems to be an odd set up, I have heard it called a business on more than one occasion, yet votes are needed to change how it works, despite it costing more money to run than its pulling in, that doesn’t work, it changes, or it goes under? You are right, people don’t want a say, they just expect it to work…..but again, if it aint coming in, it can’t go out, so there is only one outcome, if it doesn’t change??
Change will only work, with people working together. To move the sport forward, and make the sport more affordable and getting members back to having their say.
The trouble is fanciers dont know how to work together....to much back stabbing and bitching in the game ....
@@karl212 Well it is the only chance people may get, it works over in Europe and around the world. People working together for the good of the sport, also promoting the sport. I hope it happens Karl212
Very well put together! Absolutely what is required at the RPRA right now! Well done Dan & Ian, as well as the others involved in the proposals! Fingers crossed we can can get this through as many regions as possible and set the mandate of change! The outcry from last year should show that there are still many people who are interested in the change! Atb! 🎉
Brilliant Idea bout time We add change.
Whenever I've read or listened to what Ian has to say, it strikes me he speaks a great deal of sense. I will be downloading and reading the proposal with interest. Thanks to Ian for putting his effort into creating change. 👏
It's wrong to think someone else can sort payment on Internet they may not have families
Club mates?
@@thepigeonchannel Yes everyone had to get online to register their lofts so it can certainly be done, either by club mates, family, friends or the club secretary.
@@pigeonracerTVcorrect some just try and out hurdles there that arent there
this is just the negativity we are fighting against be sensible please there is always somebody that can help
So i completely agree with all ian has to say. Issue we have in the east midlands region is no clubs are told when the meetings are! I suppose this is probably one way of stopping change
Is there not a central calendar that shows all dates for all regions? I'm sure it's announced in the BHW but that'll only be useful for those that subscribe.
Your club delegate should get an email from the region secretary, I know I did, I'm delegate for my club
@@thepigeonchannel my father is the secretary for the Saxon Valley CC for the last 2 years and he has never been given a notification when meetings are
Does the Regional Secretary know who the Club delegates are, as I am not aware that any request has come from them

I was a member of the RPRA for over 50 years (I still have birds as a NWHU member). The RPRA never changed in that time. Those running it don't want change. While everything Ian has said is what is needed to save it., those in charge would rather go down with the ship. And since the subs increased, there is less chance those in charge will change. Good luck on any proposals.
Older people without internet surely they could get family or friends to pay there subs online for them
I think the bigger thing is the charge for joining now it was a serious price increase last year
Would be better to vote on it on block and not cherrypicked
I think, from what he said, individual rules would normally be voted on one at a time. But some regions might vote on the proposal in one go (which would surely make more sense?) assuming it makes it that far.
If each member got there vote and forward it to there club secretary
Thank you both for taking the time to put this video on 👍
This had made people think this year and some feds thinking of moving over to the north west homing union our fed meeting is on Thursday for just that reason
Well done Ian, you can only try your best, Thank you from me for trying
Why have a centrally run organisation that isn't centrally run, It's a complete misnomer, For me to make UK pigeon racing better it needs to be similar to the Belgian system where we race in each loft code area with provincial, combine, federation and club results being implemented, I'm more than happy to discuss this Dan, Politics in pigeon racing drives me mad as we are there to enjoy our sport
This guy knows what he's talking about!
A up nige, as long as you learn from mistakes they then become positives, what I used to say to the lads at work when I was running jobs, Good luck with it nige, see yeh at donny

What a set up and what a fancier. Talks a lot of sense on breeding and totally agree about double grandchildren. Half brother half sister pairings, and going back to the source. Breeding to type, and knowing who you're getting them from and what their management style is. He talks nothing but sense, you must make your system work for you and then find the pigeons that fit your system. Basket is the best pedigree. What counts is what you can't see or feel by handling, it's their heart and their brains (the instinct). When you have that pigeon breed around him. In Dad's shed, that pigeon is "Reliable" he has that instinct.
Great no nonsense advice😘 top man, thanks Dan
Glad you liked it!
Knows his pigeons inside and out, Looking forward to hearing more from Nigel hopefully

I like your guests soft on with your choices. I want to be constructive and not negative. But you spent too much time talking and not enough questions for your guests.. I still watched all of it. I like Charlie in your other videos. I just had to mention him.
