Queen mother was notoriously haughty, arrogant and cruel with her staff. The anecdotes that recount this are plentiful. She was not like her daughter who was warm and kind.

When the Queen Mother passed away in 2002, I was a little boy at the time. Then I saw in the news that "Queen Elizabeth of England died", so I thought it was Queen Elizabeth II that passed away (I'm not from the UK so I didn't know she also had a mother that also was a "Queen Elizabeth"). And when I saw the British monarch alive I thought "hadn't she died? Did the queen ressurect?" After all, I was just a little boy at the time and I thought the Queen had returned from the dead! Only later I realised it was her mother that in fact died on that day and Queen Elizabeth II actually passed away in September 2022.

I live in Australia and we never heard the bagpipes at the Queens funeral we didnt even get a glimpse of the Scots/Irish Pipers . Only once at Windsor we heard the 1st tune but never saw the marching Pipers. My opinion bad camera work and to much yap going on amongst the T.V. crews. Its the bagpipes that stir the soul.

I'm not even Scottish and I love those bagpipes. And drums too.

As a young girl during the tragic catastrophe known as WW1 her ancestral home was opened to nurse wounded soldiers and she helped attend to these badly injured Tommies while her own family was fighting and dying in the war. She was much beloved by the soldiers. One wrote " may she be drawn, quartered and hung: drawn in the finest coach, quartered in a magnificent home and may the finest diamonds be hung upon her".

Completely appropriate that a slim majority of the British public decided to decouple themselves from the European Union, where this kind of popcockery would not, for a second, having experienced the ravages of assumed 'royalty' and priviledge, obtain. We wish the old lady a long and restful peace but wish to declare here that the very idea of 'royalty' assaults most everything other human beings see in themselves as human. That the 'royal' Windsors ancestors were more vicious, more ambitious, and more pecuniary than yours or mine remains with a contradiction. And some members of the very 'royal' family have come to the same conclusion and decamped just to achieve human happiness within their lifetimes, not looked at under the microscope of fickle and vain human scrutiny. Pipe music 'Mi ain hoose' (My Own Home) 'Chi mi na mo-bheanna' (Mist Covered Mountains of Home)

I was going through my Mobilisation routine in HMS Nelson, the Naval Base in Portsmouth just a day or so after the QM died. The Royal Marines Band were out practicing for the Funeral every day. Great morale booster to hear the Death March and similar tunes every day before departing to Oman.
