Which one out of the first two would you recommend more? I’m trying to choose between the two for a gift💕
What happens to the bit of thread at the back that is left dangling?
Iam so upset. I orderedva custom stampedv11ct. The eyes are not coming out right. Every square has a different symbol It's difficult to see the next symbol without me pulling back my stitch to see what the next symbol is. I was told I shouldn't have to pull back my stitch to see symbol on next square. It was suggested I follow my chart/pattern to complete the eyes. The chart is completely different from the aida. I went ahead and stitched the body with print on aida. It's just not working for the eyes. They look horrible so I unstitched 1 eye. My chart is small and a little difficult to read even with my magnifying glasses with overhead lights. I can not return kit such as it is a custom I purchased last year. Can you please advise me In what to do? Th
Thank you My message was cut off. This is in regards to aida not matching chart. Erma ❤️ California
Hi, sorry I just saw your comment just now, apologies for not replying sooner. These charts are not as easy to do as they're made out to be I don't think. Honestly, having done both counted cross stitch (where you have a blank aida and are working just from the symbols on the chart) and these stamped kits, in a way now I actually prefer the counted ones. But only if its a chart I can put in an app called Pattern Keeper. I don't know if you've ever heard of it but it's an amazing app that you have open on a tablet and makes it much easier to work with. Does the aida have symbols printed on it at the edge? All of the stamped kits I have have that. The symbols printed on the edge of the fabric match exactly to the stitching area, and they tell you what number of thread to use. Usually, because they're on the edge of the picture, they'll be tucked away out of the way when you're stitching, so I just take a photo of them all on my phone or tablet, so that I can refer to the photo once its folded away. Its much easier. Does that answer your question? If not just let me know and I'll try to help you more. It sounds like you're not happy with how it's turning out. There can be 2 reasons for this with cross stitch. One is that you can never really tell how something will look until you've added in all the stitches around it, because the different colours of thread all create an effect when placed next to each other that you won't see properly until you've done more of it. The other is that the chart just hasn't been done well. I honestly hope its the 1st reason for you. If its the 2nd reason....I suppose it depends where you got your chart from, but I know I had problems with a Chinese company I ordered from before, they promised me a few times they'd send out the thread that was missing on a chart and each time I never got it so I gave up in the end. Let me know how you get on.
Thanks 🤎
You're welcome 🙂
Nice work, love the style. I notice that you seem to be more of a knitter, by the way you hold your yarn when you first started the video. Only because I do both. I enjoyed your grandmother's granny square! 🥰🤩
Thanks, yeah I learned how to knit when I was 4 years old and have knitted all my life on and off since then, I only properly discovered crochet, other than only knowing how to do this one type of granny square, during covid. I didn't realise how many different types of things you could crochet and all the different styles etc! As soon as I discovered it I loved it, and picked it up really quickly. Haven't posted videos of all the things I've made but I suppose I should. Its such an enjoyable thing to do. Thanks 🙂

Thank you for this tutorial I
Thank😅 you for this tutorial om tent sti
Thank you I’ve just found my love of 25 ct and have restarted 5 from 16/18ct I am so going to change them to tent stitch it’s faster and so great to actually see the difference all of those look wonderful
Thank you for this.❤❤
Nice explanation.
Thanks 🙂

Hola!
I always shop at Michael's craft store for my crochet stuff. I recently got a pack of the locking stitch markers and I like the smaller ones vs the jumbo ones ❤😘
Your nails look great, what's your tip bcuz mine don't grow. I love to crochet ❤😊
Thanks ☺️ I don't know, ever since I was about 8 years old I wanted to grow my nails and just started, don't know how they grow so well tbh. I've always just put it down to using my hands a lot for my hobbies, I've done knitting on and off since I was very young and now crocheting as well. Need to keep my nails on my left hand short for playing music that's how they're different lengths on both hands 🙂
I stitch in hand. Even for larger projects. Start from right side and the left side is rolled up tight with clamps.
Wow amazing explanation thank you❤
You're welcome 😊
This was really helpful as so far I've only had the ones where the aida numbers match the key. Now I know what to do if I get the other type with the chart thanks for sharing 😊.
You're welcome!
I love the way you do the ends. I’m going to try it on my next blanket. Can an envelope border still be done if the ends are sewn in as you go? Thank you so much!
Hi, sorry for the late reply, yes I don't see why not.
Brilliant!!😊
I've never tried mosaic but would love to. I would love for you to do a tutorial on how to make this beautiful blanket.
That is beautiful. I’ve gotta watch this video a couple times to catch on. Where do u get ur patterns to make these blankets ?? Really like ur ends.
Thanks, this one in the video is called Inspiring India by a designer called Crazy Cat Crochet Lady, I'm in her fb group, she has some amazing patterns. I just join different fb crochet groups and whenever I see a photo of something I like usually people comment to ask where they got the pattern from, that's how I find my patterns. They're mainly on Ravelry to buy. If you like mosaic crochet style, join the Mosaic Crochet World fb group and you'll see people posting photos of things by different pattern designers. Hope you enjoy it, thanks for commenting.
Thanks so much for this! All I find is 1 over 2 and 2 over 2 linen/even weave videos and I really want to do some of my larger projects as a tent stitch! Did you do yours on the 28 count over 2 over 1? It looks great and I'd love to finish some of my huge full coverage pieces in my lifetime!
You're welcome, yes most of mine are on either 25ct or 28ct with 2/1 tent stitch. I actually prefer 25ct now though because the 28ct can get a bit crowded and more difficult to get the needle through. Thanks for watching and hope you enjoy your stitching.
So I am trying to understand it. Currently working on a 14ct which means 2 strands but seeing as I want to do the loop method I just use 1 strand cause it doubles so it’s like using 2. Correct?
This video is for odd numbers like 1 or 3 strands. If you're doing 2 strands, you just need to take one big long one and fold it in half, and use the loop at the end which happens naturally. Hope that helps, thanks for watching.
thank you - great idea.
Glad it was helpful!
I am just about to start this blanket and after having made 4 Janie Crow blankets this will be my first big mosaic project. It will be a relief not having to sew a million ends in 😅 Many thanks from a fellow Scotswoman x
Hope you enjoy doing it 😊
What a great timesaver! Thanks for sharing.
You're welcome 😊
Thank you for this, I always have done 2 over 2 cross and am looking to doing a full coverage of my design and I like the look of tent stitch and have been looking for this information. Am I understanding you, you do tent stitch on 28 count aida or is it evenweave? Sorry for my ignorance.
You're welcome, I use easycount gridded aida, sorry I'm not sure what evenweave is, is that linen? You know more than me! 😀 I've never dared to try linen, always used the material that's a bit stiffer with well defined holes on the 4 corners, so I think that means aida? Either way it's called easycount gridded, I think Zweigart makes it, I'd only ever do counted projects on the gridded material now, it makes things so much quicker and easier for counting where the stitches go.
Thank you for that, I cannot find 28 count Aida as yet in Australia, only 25 count, so will keep looking. Even weave is a bit like linen.
I actually prefer 25ct now to 28ct, I just finished a mini HAED on 28ct, and it reminded me that although the coverage with 2 strands tent stitch is perfect, it actually gets really difficult to stitch through areas that are already filled with stitches when you get near the end of your project. On open spaces it's fine, but I was having trouble pushing the needle through in the crowded areas, so now I'm thinking 25ct is actually my favourite. The coverage doesn't look as good as 28ct while you're stitching, but actually when your project is finished it's totally fine, and when you wash a project it fluffs up the threads a little bit more again. And bearing in mind that when you're working on something the aida is stretched out on a frame...Once it's been off the frame for a while and maybe shrunk down a tiny bit, which must happen as well, 25ct is perfect, so id just go with that if I was you. I'm seriously now thinking about whether to restart some of my current wips on 25ct...not decided yet though. Its just that bit easier to get your stitches through towards the end.
@@malaquitastitches thank you.
Congratulations on your very first amigurumi!! 🎉🎉🎉 I just finished my First ever amigurumi yesterday!! 🎉 Its a bumble bee! I highly recommend you buying an amigurumi kit! They come with all the required items, like safety eyes, big needle, correct size crochet hook, stitch counters, pattern, and a QR code for the instructional video! So you can follow along the video! I followed along and there was one mistake in the pattern that made me restart multiple times but once i figured that out, everything else was easy! I bought 2 kits, one came with safety eyes, other came with regular eyes that need to be glued on with a glue gun. The kits were cheap so the hooks included were also cheaply made. Luckily I bought a 10pack hook set so I just checked the hook size and swapped it out with a good one. Invest in a safety eyes pack with different sizes from amazon if you’ll be doing more amigurumis! My next project I’m looking for a nice hello kitty one ❤ Happy stitching! 🎉❤
Thanks, aw thats brilliant, glad you're happy with your 1st one. Hope you enjoy making your next one. I'm doing a little mini doll now from another youtube tutorial. I like doing it that way because I can physically see what it's supposed to look like as I go, and some of the types of stitches are still new to me. I'll do a video of that once it's finished, hopefully soon. Its quite enjoyable to do isn't it! Much quicker than the big blankets I'm used to making. Enjoy! 😀
PS if someone notices his "lower body error", they're focusing on the wrong thing 😄😄
love it! I'm a big time crochet girl (new to cross stitch though...that's how I found you). Congrats on your first amigurumi piece! He's super cute. Can't wait to see your next piece!
Thank you so much!
Hello I just bought this new stamped cross stitch kit and still cannot understand the column of symbols. I understand the color part but not the plus in a circle or a red cross in square Can't seem to get help Erma
Can you describe it a bit more to me please and I'll see if I can help you?
Where on stamped kit does it tell you what type of stitch you are suppose to use. I don't understand the symbol column as far as stitching. Erma
They're usually all just full crosses on the stamped kits. The symbols on the aida should match a list of symbols on the chart, and you can see from the chart which colour you need to use for that symbol. Does that help? If not, let me know what you need more explanation about and I'll see if I can help you.
@malaquitastitches Thank you for getting back to me regarding symbols on stamped cross stitching kit. I have spent hours trying to find out what each symbol means. Even tried to look on Amazon for a book on cross stitching symbols. I understand the color coding but not the symbols like a full arrow a half shaded area, cross sign. I understand a dot in the square symbol may mean a French not. I feel stuck. I sure appreciate you getting back to me. Thank you again Erma
Are you in any of the cross stitch facebook groups? It's a shame you can't post a photo on here so I can see what you mean, but if you go on any of the big fb cross stitch groups and post a photo of it I'm sure you'll get lots of answers really quickly explaining it, people in the groups will know and they're really helpful.
@malaquitastitches No I don't even know how to use Facebook. I'm an elderly person and really behind the times. I love to sew and since I'm bed bound my doctor suggested I take up cross stitching since I told her I miss going to my sewing machine and sew dolls and other crafts. I'm determined to figure this out. Know how to embroider, but want to learn so much about cross stitching. My young caretaker can help me set up Facebook. Again thank you so much for the info. I will let you know how it goes. Have a wonderful Sunday and God bless you for caring. Erma
That was really cool. Beautiful work.
Thanks 😀
I'm new to stitching and I only do stamped kits. I'm working on a 14 count kit right now (my first 14 count kit--I started with 11 count) and I'm going to try the tent stitch. I was wondering if it would look bad to switch in the middle and you answered that too! The section I'm about to start on is white floss on white canvas--tent stitch seems like a no-brainer....I'm super excited--I'm hopeful that going faster will allow me to do more kits which is a big YAAY!! Thanks. Once again, one of your videos has helped me so much!
Aw you're welcome, glad my videos are being useful to someone 😀 what I would say though is be careful on the bigger stitches/lower counts with tent stitch, because you can see differences much clearer. So if I was doing a 14 ct project I wouldn't switch half way through because that might be quite noticeable. But definitely with the really high counts like 18-20 and above, where the stitches just look like little dots anyway to the eye, you shouldn't notice a difference. Try out a little section and see how it goes, and with a little section you can always take it out again if you don't like it. Good luck 😀
Is that cross stitch from zozack
No I got this one from Qian ze hui but I think zozack does them as well, think they all come from the same factory it looks like
Thanks a lot for this video, I am a beginner and I am so glad that this video exists before I start my stamped 18ct 😊
You're welcome. Glad you found it useful 😊
Thank you for this tutorial. I love loop stitch and now I can use anytime
You're welcome 😊
4:20 three strands start with loop
Where do you buy your ball point needles as I love using these but haven’t found them in bulk
I need to buy them separately, get them from Lakeside Needlecraft, I buy a few at a time but to be fair they last a long time, one will usually last me at least 6 months of constant use.
With those that I have seen doing the sewing method, I have not liked the look of the stitches. I am experimenting with hoops. I can do two handed with the hoop - not as fast as with a standing frame but it saves the arm from going from back to front and back. Thanks for showing how you do these. I may try this frame. I have seen them on Amazon.
I have this one on my wishlist only in cotton. It is good to see one stitched :) I think it looks fine for what it is. I am just getting into the pre-printed kits and I understand they will look very different from the picture.
Beautiful!
Thanks 😀
