Garmin G3X troubleshooting. It took me way too long to figure this out.
Can't raise the Tower

Had to troubleshoot when I could not contact the tower for landing permission. Nice explanation about what happened from the controller near the end of the video.
Friday Harbor to Renton with Cape San Juan and Seattle Ship Canal. "Telligence" practice en route.

Another beautiful day flying from Friday Harbor on San Juan Island to Renton, Washington, via Seattle's ship canal. En route I did a little practice with the voice activation function of the audio panel GMA 35c.

Had to make a trip during the last half of the Apple Cup. The skies were quiet and the Husky Stadium was surely loud.
Renton to Friday Harbor 20x speed on a beautiful day

I was doing a speed run at 6500ft. With the 20x speed up in the video it makes the ground speed about 3,300kts at cruise:)
Whidbey Approach service closure

Just a little video where I tried to figure out what the Whidbey NAS controller was telling me about their class C being closed. Ultimately I contacted Seattle Center to request a descent through the class C.

Fast forward makes the taxi speeds look far too high.
I have to agree with @finsent0. Amazing camera setup!
Amazing setup with this beauty of a high wing, keep em rocking!
Beautiful plane!
I miss Newcastle/Bellevue/Renton...use to live off coal creek blvd a few miles from factoria
I think they make pills for that....... ;)
Awesome videos! Appreciate you sharing!
The use of local landmarks by local pilots should be discouraged. It can be confusing for those not familiar with them and/or the area. When I was flying in proximity to aircraft near me, I wanted to know where they were. " Five miles Southeast at three thousand" beats the hell out of "Over five twenty bridge" or "Over Bellevue"??
Agree. Reporting bellevue is part of the arrival procedure and is right on the edge of class delta for the airport in question, krnt. So, it is a highly controlled area. That being said, it is a very busy corridor for departures from boeing field to the east. Ads-b traffic is really important here, and it is inside a mode c veil so everyone is visible unless there is a malfunction. I have once filed a Nasa report on this area due to a close call.
Local landmarks may or may not be approved VFR reporting points. Where I do most of my flying, Mormon Temple, Brushy Peak, Oakland Coliseum, Golden Gate Bridge, Lake Chabot, etc, etc are all recognized VFR points and marked as such on the TCA chart.
Oh dang! A cutlass RG! Beautiful plane. That was wild, nice job troubleshooting and resolving the issue.
Thanks. It's a TR182. The Cutlass RG doesn't have struts on the wings, like the newer 210's.
@@allenhugh1 Oh I see! Thanks for the clarification. There are so many neat Cessna variants!
The lack of other radio calls on the frequency would have had me worried it was a me problem. Glad it all worked out in the end and they were able to work out what was wrong and correct it.
What airport is this?
Paine Field in Everett, Washington, 19 miles North of Seattle
It is not Paine Field, it is Renton Municipal KRNT
@@billbrauer2178 No wonder no one is answering. At 28 seconds into the video, he's calling Paine tower.
@@jackriley5974No he wasn’t, he was calling Renton tower.
@@iain8837 I stand corrected. This happens to me often when I'm not interested enough in vlogs to finish watching them.
I like the panel setup.
Do you have the Garmin GFC500 auto pilot? I fly 2 planes with that AP. One with a GPS400W and one with a GTN750XI. Both will turn much sharper than 90 degrees, for example, while the TOGA button is flying back to the IAF and I activate the approach to make another pass the turn is maybe 150 degrees.
Im looking at moving up to the Seattle metro. What's the hangar situation or covered spots?
Damn. Thought you were gonna land on them clouds 😅 ☁️ ☁️
How do you turn it off? I've looked all thorough the G3X installation manual and can't seem to find it.
I replied to your question in your g3x FB group with a picture of the setup page from the g3x install. Hope it helps. Have your installer do it for certified.
@@allenhugh1 saw it. Thx.
That is one heck of a nicely equipped 182!
I think you forgot to mention that alt bug needs to be set at your low point of the AP visual descent before you expect AP to descend.
Such a life. ❤
Still can’t get this to work unless I’m at less than a 90 intercept
Do they sell the flowers or the bulbs?
What does it do if you arm approach mode during any of this?
Almost everyone not wearing a life jacket. Real smart and I wondering what his insurance provider would think of that.
Nice panel and flight.
Love it, especially with the music and landmarks.
Keep making these types of videos, very nice work. Use a service like 'Promosm'!!
Sweet!
Nice flight. I didn’t even know about Mt. Jefferson!
Jet boat going fast showing tourists many tidal flows around island east of Vancouver Island. Lots of tidal flows as well as some calm water. That jet boat driver must know the water well as he came very close to lots of underwater rocks. Also, lots of porpoises swimming along side of boat and some seals too. Thanks for sharing.
He drove over to and on top of the porpoises on purpose so the tourists could get some good pics and boost his business. not very smart and totally illegal these days. More of an idiot than anything.
That's a nice panel set up!
Lots of pages and says, but what about the handoff and barometer setting? Center says “N123CD contact Denver center on 123.45” Can I reply to them AND the Garmin “Tune 123.45, 3CD” and it’ll just do it? Similar for barometer setting after check-in?
That would be nice! The GTN isn’t controlling the altimeter setting, so you can’t do anything with it using voice command. As for tuning a specific frequency you read to it, you can’t do that either. You CAN say TUNE NEAREST CENTER, and a page appears with one or more choices of frequencies for the Center in your area, you can touch it on the screen and put it in active or standby. You are using a different yoke button to have the GTN listen to your command, so you wouldn’t be responding to a controller and talking to the GTN simultaneously. That’s future stuff.
Thanks for the video. I’ve had this feature but never used it.
Glad it was helpful!
A bit windy on the landing!
When you voice command to tune tower approach, you push a button to load stand by. Is that a common button?
That is Garmin’s Telligence system. You have a push to command button on the yoke. It is great.
@@allenhugh1 I understand Garmin’s Telligence puts it in standby and I didn’t see you touch the navigator to flip flop. Just wondered how you made the flip flop on radio?
Howdy, Hugh Allen. it is enthralling video. thanks. :)
Nice, That was a great event. The kids have really enjoyed themselves the last 2 years.
