From budget to changing our diet to finding love in our life to have support and not being lonely.There are some very difficult tasks involved as you know and when your with a younger wife like I am I found that our diets are different and the “age” factor has a lot to do with it. No way can I ever think about getting my filipina wife to ever give up rice!!😂 Nor would I ever try because this is her love. She loves sweets and sweet breads and chips and basically lots of carbs!! I’ve given up trying to control her diet because I know it’s up to her to make the decision to stop.I’m all in on eating healthier and do the intermittent fasting 4 to 5 days a week 16-8 eating only during an 8 hour window.I’m like you I got started late on saving money so my wife and I both have our 401k’s going and Roth IRA so every little bit helps even if it’s started late.I guess I can only disagree with you on one thing it’s coffee. I love coffee but I use nut-pods which is a healthier creamer.But like you said Health is Wealth so if you stay healthy it will prevent big hospital bills and being active will add years. Yes since your so close to retirement I think you made the right decision to move there and get away from the high cost of living here in U.S. I would of done the same if I financially was set but I’m needing to have more time for saving and wait until I’m 67 at my full retirement age. I met my filipina wife online when I was 50 and we married when I was 52 and she was 33.I petitioned her on a K1 visa to come to the U.S. since it’s the fastest way to bring them to U.S. She’s been in U.S. now 6 years and will able to draw a social security check after 10 years of working. Building a small house there in her province is our plan so with just electric,water,wifi,and food as our only expense’s and travel from time to time it’s much more affordable in the Philippines.I also drove a truck for awhile like you OTR but now drive yard spotter or yard dog moving trailers in and out of doors and around our poultry plant. 👍

Good story. I was laid off in 2023 at 51 yrs old and decided to come visit my LDR Filipina last October and haven’t left yet. I still have a car and apartment in the US so have decided to just live back and forth between the two places depending on the season of the year. With deciding to not look for another job I spent several months strictly learning how to make money by trading options in the stock market and it’s been plenty to pay my bills, have extra spending money, and also grow my portfolio. I hope that gives some people hope that it is really possible to retire early if you have a decent size brokerage account. I started with approx. 100k and it is now larger even though I’ve lived off of profits.

I think the general layout is pretty good, but I would put a hall going into the house. Make the house a little bit bigger a little bit longer and put a hallway in so you’re not walking right into the living room in the same with your bedroom because it gives you more privacy since your bedroom door is off the kitchen basically if you have a little hall and then the door going in or put it at the run at the wall or in the kitchen, but then you put a little wall along so when you walk in there, you’re not looking right into the bedroom that would be my suggestion Otherwise simple looks like it be easy to build inexpensive to build and I’m not sure how tall your ceilings are gonna be but anything over 9 foot on a sliding glass door if you get any sort of wind at all, it’s very hard to control it unless she gets some very expensive double glazedbut standard aluminum sliding glass door if it’s windy or rain, it can be susceptible to getting wet

You say your not a professional at layout of building your home but it seems you have a great plan to me to each their own ! I can’t give advice on this but watching many vlogs on building a home there I know many Americans have built homes their with different opinions on this subject with some having a difficult time and some not. I do know the building materials are not as good as U.S. but some house look very well done there. Like you said it’s a great idea to be on hand there while labor is being done and to get a reliable engineer put in charge seems important. Good luck to you my friend you deserve the best!👍
