Function As A Service With Portable Code
มุมมอง 61ปีที่แล้ว
Over the years I have had several people ask me about being able to make functions that were portable between cloud providers. Others have shied away from the idea of using services like AWS Lambda out of fear of vendor lock-in. In this video, I show you how you can easily create functions to target both AWS Lambda, and Azure Functions. As always, source code is available on GitHub. github.com/...
Interacting with IoT Devices

Excellent content. This is exactly what I needed today!
Hi Tom, I want to know how to add my credentials from AWS to the .NET app. I can only see the bucket name field but I cant see where I have to put my credentials. Thanks in advance.
Hi, Thanks for watching. If you are running the application locally, the best way to store credentials is using either an AWS Profile or Single Sign-on. You can accomplish this using the AWS Command Line. Install and run AWS CONFIGURE to get set up. If you are running this inside of AWS either on an EC2 Instance, Lambda function or the like, then I would use an IAM role attached to the compute. You should avoid adding credentials to your code if possible as it makes it easy to make a mistake and accidentally expose them.
@@basementprogrammer Ho sir. It doent matter if I expose the credentials inside the app? Do you knpw how can I achieve this? Thanks
@@MatiasNovillo1 You should never expose the credentials in the app. If you accidentally check the source code into a public repository, or someone gets a look at the code, your account will be compromised. It's much easier to just run AWS CONFIGURE at the command line with the AWS Command Line tool. That will do everything you need without risk. docs.aws.amazon.com/cli/latest/userguide/getting-started-install.html
@@basementprogrammer ok sir. Cool. Im going to take your advice. Thanks! The video is great!
thanks for sharing!
It is possible to use AWS .NET Core 6.0 Mock Lambda Test Tool when using Lambda Annotations? or it is always necessary to deploy in order to test my lambda ?
It's extracting pdf multiple pages because i am using async method but it's extracting only single page pdf
Hi ... build environment you took was linux machine ..cant we take windows machine and my project is based on dotnet frame work 4.8 shall we use msbuild instead of dotnet build command
It's difficult to run it each time by publishing. How to test it with local docker or may be mock lambda test tool?
Does it work running in vs code?
While extracting the text from large pdf files (400+ pages), I was only able to extract text till the 3rd or 4th page. Do you have any idea about that? very good video by the way. really helpful👍
Thanks for watching! I am glad you found the video useful. First, I would try to use Textract from the AWS Console manually on the file to see if it gets processed correctly. I don't have a sufficiently large file to test with to validate the code, I'll have to see what I can do to generate one.
@@basementprogrammer Fixed that after few research. we can achieve this by utilize the nexttoken property. Thanks for replying.
Great video 👍
Hi, following your tutorial I am facing the following exception. Can you please help and suggest what I am still missing? Win32Exception: No credentials are available in the security package
It looks like you are using Windows as the OS to work through this? In my video I was working on Linux (Ubuntu) on a RaspberryPi. Linux allows me to use the certificates as they are. I believe with Windows you would have to combine the certificates into a single file and convert them. I would have to do a bit more research on how to do this. I believe however that for most IoT applications, Linux on the device would be a better option due to lower hardware and power requirements.
@@basementprogrammer with windows you have to do something like this // Load the PFX certificate from a file var certificatePath = "Certificates/certificate.pfx"; var certificatePassword = "alaa"; var clientCert = new X509Certificate2(certificatePath, certificatePassword); // Set up the cline to connect to AWS _client = new MqttClient(IotEndpoint, BrokerPort, true, caCert, clientCert, MqttSslProtocols.TLSv1_2); ofcourse you have to use openssl to create the pfx file using this ommand openssl pkcs12 -export -in floorDetectionWindowsPc.cert.pem -inkey floorDetectionWindowsPc.private.key -out certificate.pfx -certfile root-CA.crt
Nice video. Can you add more to it and get some trim warnings and show how to alleviate those?
Good tutorial. Keep it up
You used sam cli to initialize the project, what would be the advantage over creating a new serverless annotations project directly in VS? Is it only for local invocations?
The reason I started with SAM was to hilight the differences between the Annotations Framework and SAM. The best way to get started is to use the VS project as that has everything set up for you.
@@basementprogrammer excellent video, thank you
Please note in this video I missed out on updating the IoT Endpoint. This is covered in the companion blog post: www.basementprogrammer.com/connecting-your-raspberrypi-to-aws-iot
