Westside Regional Center (WRC) is one of the 21 regional centers that provide services to persons, age three and above, with a disability pursuant to the Lanterman Act and infants and toddlers, birth to 36 months, who have a need for early intervention services and who meet the eligibility criteria for the California Early Start program.
It is Westside Regional Center’s (WRC) mission to empower people with developmental disabilities and their families to choose and access community services that facilitate a quality of life comparable to persons without disabilities.
Through the DDS Disparity Funds Program, WRC was able to produce the following videos to provide consumers, families, and communities with equitable access to information on regional center services, supports, and resources.

3 Inclusive Advocacy Addressing Ableism in Sexual Violence and Prevention
Ableism, beliefs or practices that cause discrimination against people with disabilities, creates significant barriers for sexual assault survivors with DD to access meaningful support, make decisions for themselves, and limits the strategies to prevent sexual assault from happening in the first place.
This training session will focus on reviewing the basics of person-centered practices and how this approach ties into trauma-informed care. Participants will discuss the importance of autonomy and choice, and how access to healthy relationship and sexual health education can decrease the risk of sexual assault. Join VALOR and Westside Regional Center to examine the ways that ableism, stereotypes, and misinformation about people with DD creates more trauma for sexual assault survivors and puts people with DD at a greater risk for experiencing sexual assault.

Do you understand that the word is Advance, not Advanced? It's Advance because it's done in advance.
i hope that Westside Regional Center loses its state contract. I worked with them for over 40 years, and found their workers to be on leave for extended periods of time; so you could never get good service. When you really need them - is when they won't be there for you. They harm a lot of people, and retaliate against you if you file complaints. We need better service for disabled people, and Westside Regional Center is not honest, competent or compassionate. Do not trust this organization.
