See I love this and resonate with this because being black in America, where our history and culture was under attack from the moment we were brought here, we created our own manner of speech that's ridiculed, called unintelligent, ghetto, or flat out wrong. So we end up learning how to assimilate, make the outsider comfortable and are forced to choose between being ourselves or being understood on the outside. For those of us who do speak other languages, it gets even worse.

The boy child with more education has no demands, but the female with no education has more demands from parents.

Baby girl. I’m nearly 40. I am glad a person your age is out there with your style of poetry. During my time in school, often I would be criticised for my style of writing- that it was more poetry, than essays. 🙄 fair points I guess, but it’s a shame I was not supported to look into both styles of writing, instead my poetry was suppressed. I have a great career in the science world. Often I wonder where I would be if I chose a different path. sometimes I do get lost in my own little creative world - writing poetry and songs, these days I am now venturing into writing in my native language. It’s so exciting realising how I can’t just translate an idea into another language and have it be impactful the same way. I hope you’re working on an audio book and an album. Look, I can read your poetry yes. But I need to hear it in your voice, with your intonations, non verbal communication cues and everything. I wish you all the successes in the future.
