If men like Jackson profitice this to such resolution it shows a flaw in his domination or the Bible itself. Otherwise his early death may have been his greatest gift.

I think a lot of Civil War revisionism has gone too far but to categorize any Confederate as a "hero" just does not seem right. No German would refer to a Waffen SS soldier as a hero even if that soldier had never breached the Conventions of War; it wouldn't seem right.

I understand your feelings, but I don't see it as you do. Courage, self-sacrifice through devotion to duty and to one's comrades are praiseworthy qualities in whomever they are found, regardless of uniform, even if the cause for which they fight be a most pitiful and tragic one. God bless you and yours.

what i'm curious about is why does society think this is new🤔, society doesn't lie to us and tell us we right all the time like they do to women, and because of that it always been more men choosing to figure out other ways of doing things other than following society's plan of sacrificing all our happiness, health, & time just to keep coming up short. instead, more of us have been using the many blessings of the internet, trying to figure out ways to do more valuable things such as how to grow a tiny bit of food, build tiny homes, or whatever he feels is going help him sustain long term while choosing to live on less.👍

This makes me wonder about the 1828 Nullification Crisis. President Jackson wasn't one to mince words. He made it clear to South Carolina that if they didn't back down he was going to lead an Army down there himself. Would Virginia or North Carolina have allowed a federal army to pass through their land? Would they supply troops to help subjugate another Southern state? I don't Virginia's expectation that Washington remain almost totally passive to southern succession was at all realistic. That stance basically ensured Virginia's exit from the Union. But as Professor Robertson points out, the north and south had grown so far apart that they couldn't understand each other. What might sound naïve and fanciful to one side could seem perfectly reasonable to the other.

If anyone cares this video is from 2002. James I Robertson, with that beautiful southern accent, passed in 2019. Robertson was considered a very distinguished historian. This video was produced by a Virginia Public TV station. Public TV has been attacked so much by the republican party that they hardly produce programs like this anymore. Lee should have surrendered after the battle of Five Forks. The next Confederate terrible defeat was at Sailor's Creek. Lee was prepared to fight at Appomattox when he finally surrendered.
