    If anyone else is having trouble getting the grid in the viewport to match your new mm settings, you need to find the Viewport Overlay options. They'll be on the top right of your viewport, under a dropdown with two circles.

    The auto merge vertices does absolutely nothing with the mirror modifier. The modifier has its own merge setting that needs to be checked (which is checked by default). That, with clipping, is what keeps those vertices connected. The auto merge is for when you move two or more ACTUAL vertices close together.

    Does poli count matter much when making minis? If I were to go crazy on details and ended up with a crazy poli count is that going to affect the print at all. Also, what about ngons, will the printer freak out if a face has more than 4 vertices. Same thing with tris, would those cause issues?

    • @DiluvianChronicles
      @DiluvianChronicles 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      polycount doesn't really matter for a finished piece, but if you want to pose it and make multiple versions it can slow things down significantly. Also, as far as I'm aware, ngons don't make a huge difference if they are flat. I have printed plenty of capped off cylinders with no real issues. Be aware however that your polygons will be converted to tris when exporting (I think?) so large ngon panels might end up looking funky.

    4:22 Blender supports drag and drop of images onto the 3D viewer, which you can then use a direct 1:1 reference inside of the modeler using orthographic projections in case your reference is really good and a profile sketch. Setting up the reference plane Blender creates to be axis aligned allows for faster copying of the reference with a mesh in front of it, using X-Ray/transparency. Just a different method to help bring in the hand drawn into the digital realm, instead of using the eyes to compare and contrast it turns it into tracing of what you've already created.

    Its been a while since we had Spire Seas content. I hope the project isnt abandoned. My wife amd I really dig the game, and with rhe growing popularity of microwargames like Demon Ship, I have to believe there's an audience out there for it just waiting fornSpire Seas to take off. Im not on discord, so maybe Im just self selecting to be out of the loop, but I just wanted to add some support today on the place I found the game.

      Thank you for the kind words! The game (and channel) is on a bit of a pause while I work on another, very different project. Hopefully I can get some work done on it once that gets rolling. Thank you for the encouragement! It is a good boost to get some more art done and move the game towards a releasable state. Hopefully there will be more news soon!

      Make sure you aren't deleting the vertices in the middle. These will become the centerline

    Hi @Diluvian Chronicles, I was just wondering if you're using a drawing tablet when modeling? Thanks!
