RVJN (A Drik initiative)
Rural Visual Journalism Network, popularly known as RVJN is an innovative new entry into the established media landscape of Bangladesh. Empowering rural citizens by allowing them to tell their stories it compromises of 40+ journalists who produce multimedia news stories spanning across all 64 districts of Bangladesh.
At its core lies the need to bring relevant stories which engage local audiences, produced by local rural journalists. The award winning RVJN program acknowledges various factors such as high illiteracy rates, reduced access and reliance of rural communities on traditional information sources (such as state/political party controlled TV & radio) and the high penetration of mobile phone and internet usage. Limited press freedom and disproportionate representation of deprived women and children in the media sector are alarming concerns which will be the focus areas in the program of Press Freedom 2.0.

Chameli and Mofazzol’s success story
Chameli Begum (28) and Mofazzol Hossain (34) of Bogra proved again hard work is the only shortcut to success. Moffazzol, being physically retard, was unable to prosper in any task. Two years back, seeing his husband depressed and worried about future, his wife Chameli suggested him to start hotel business. But they did not have ample amount of cash to start a big business. They started by taking loans. Initially the couple themselves worked as the cook, server and cleaner of the hotel. Today, their hotel is the busiest one among the twelve hotels of the area and popular among customers.
