Optimum TU3008V Bench Lathe - Transport, Installation and Modification
In spring 2024, I decided to replace my existing small bench lathe with a larger model with more power and a larger swing over bed. I was lucky enough to acquire an Optimum TU3008V on the second-hand market.
The Optimum TU3008V is the predecessor model of the 3008VB and has a brushless motor drive and can be operated with 220 V single-phase current.
I had to use a ramp and a trolley to transport the 240 kg machine to my basement, which is 2 metres lower.
I also had to make some modifications to the machine and scrape the lathe bed for better performance.
I am not a professional machinist. As a pure hobbyist, this machine is more than adequate for my needs and available budget.
Enjoy the video!

HBM BF30 Milling Machine - Transport, Installation and Test
I have bought a new larger 230kg milling machine, an HBM BF30, to replace my previous milling machine, an Optimum BF20. As an amateur astronomer, I always need custom-made aluminium parts for my observatory, which I produce myself on my own small benchtop machine tools. After a long search, I was able to purchase a BF30 milling machine from the Dutch company HBM at a favourable price. This is t...
Celestron Triple RASA11 Astrograph on the 10micron GM3000 mount
In this video I show the build process of my Celestron Triple RASA11 Astrograph. This 350kg telescope consists of three Celestron RASA11 v1 Telescopes, each with 620mm focal length and fast f2.2 on an Italian 10micron GM3000HPS Observatory grade mount, permanently installed in my backyard Observatory. I show the different stages of this setup, starting with the installation of the huge 10micron...
Astrophotography on La Palma with the 10micron GM1000HPS mount
Two times I was already on La Palma to do astrophotography and to explore the beautiful island. But it was a long time ago. The desire to visit La Palma again - this time with modern and sophisticated astrophotography equipment - was great. After two years of pandemic and many uncertainties, La Palma seemed to be a good option to spend the summer vacation 2022 there. After long planning to rent...
10micron GM3000 HPS Astronomical Mount - Unboxing, Installation and Test
With a payload of 100kg and high precision encoders on both axes, the 10micron GM3000 HPS German equatorial mount is currently the ultimate observatory mount for the amateur astrophotographer. "HPS means “High Precision and Speed” and is the name for the new series of astronomical mounts by 10micron. The HPS mounts feature two high-precision absolute encoders mounted directly on each axis to en...
Astrophotography in the Austrian Alps - Silvretta High Alpine Road
Out in the Dark Part II - Silvretta High Alpine Road in Austria During the Corona Summer of 2020 and 2021, I was unable to travel to distant destinations because almost the entire world was in lockdown. So I explored the Alps in several excursions with my mobile astrophotography equipment and searched for suitable observing sites. The observation place Bieler Höhe at the Silvretta High Alpine R...
As an astronomer, finding a dark observing site in light-polluted Europe is not easy. Finding a well accessible site with passable horizon visibility and transparency is even more difficult. Then to have good weather conditions is a gamble. The Col de Restefond in the southern part of the French Alps in the Parc national du Mercantour promises to fulfil all these wishes: 2600m altitude, located...
Imaging the Eagle Nebula - Astro Excursion with my mobile imaging rig
June is usually not a good month for deep sky astrophotography, as the nights here in central Europe are not totally dark due to the summer solstice. Nevertheless I used a period of several days with clear skies for an Astro excursion to a dark location to the so called Haarstrang in North Rhine Westphalia with good visibility of the southern sky to image Messier 16, the Eagle Nebula in the con...
The Moon through my Telescope - A tour across Mare and Crater
In this little video I have taken videos of the waxing and the full moon with my Celestron C11 XLT Schmidt-Cassegrain to create high resolution panoramic images of the moon. Additionally, I also took a RGB color image of the full moon to enhance the colors of the otherwise so pale grey moon. I have added dynamic labels of surface structures like mare, craters and mountains. Some technical detai...
Shortcuts Tanzania - Arusha National Park
In January 2020 I visited Tanzania in a guided tour. I rented a Toyota Landcruiser and two experienced local guides to travel to several National Parks in Tanzania, like Arusha NP, the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater. This was the first time I was not driving myself, in contrast to my other Africa travels. I expected to be in Tanzania in a pretty good time in a shoulder season, well before the ...

Yosemite National Park - A hike to Vernal and Nevada Falls
End of February 2020 I had the opportunity to visit the Yosemite National Park again and hike to Vernal Falls and Nevada Falls. The weather was good on this day and a lot of people were in the park, still not aware of what catastrophy would hit the world only days later. Two weeks later Yosemite National Park was closed due to the virus outbreak... Filmed handheld with the Canon EOS R and the R...

Use three more telescopes as counterweight. You heard it first from me 😂🤌🏼
Seen you coming, excuse the pun!
More pictures please
Fun Fact: All Germans are required to own a small machine shop.
All I see is LOTS LOTS of money
Is this better than one 16" telescope?
Bro called me poor in 17 diffrent ways 💀
Beautiful setup!
WHAT DOES BRO DO FOR A LIVING
That's bad ass
Which is the opening music? Anyway, congrats for the incredible setup!
Следующий сетап 3 RASSA 36? 😊
thats one of the most majestic telescopes I've seen.
What in the actual (*insert curse word here*) is going on? This is SICK!!!
ach, die 35000€...😂
Ohhhhh, I almost cry from happiness when I see such a setup
TOYODA - ONE LOVE!❤
I'm couting down for my vacation on La Palma in September. I visitng the island from 2011 till 2022 many times and almost experienced the vulcano erupotion in 2021.
M22 is absolutely stunning
Probably the most satisfying video on TH-cam. Installing this under a bortle 7 sky definitely shows some determination
Indeed.. almost a shame it's not at a remote site with this much effort
I'd say the next project should be an RV to drive it to dark skies and easily ramp off and on 😛
id' probs would of got a cdk instead, each to thier own i guess
Absolutely stunning.
3x$5000 scopes on a $20,000 mount is affordable , boy im doing somthing wrong in life
Incredibly impressive!!!
Can you compare images from one rasa vs 3 rasa.
Do you have any problem about that mount i wanna buy it im thinking between paramount myt or 10 micron
Very beautiful video that is very well done. Chapeau! Amazing telescope and amazing photography!
Fantastic astrophotograpy scenes, but the video tells this story so well and there is an effortless flow to it, with clever transitions and editing. The time just flew by. Deserves a bigger audience

I really enjoyed this video sir ❤ Also BGM 💐
Holy moly thats an absolute beast and a dream rig. Realistically, how "easy" is it to overexpose the DSO itself with this?
Wow, nice setup! Would you mind sharing your .stl files for the dew shield and the spider vanes?
Bro, heavy duty setup just on the thumbnail... then you bust out a full shop where you mill your hardware?! Bravo this is goals
👍
Another question after re-watching, what is the rms total when guiding? What was your best rms?
Oh my, I'm curious about the wife's reaction budget wise.
unfuckingreal
Truly amazing work ,and a very expensive one at that, of you can take this setup (somehow, dont know how 😂) to a bortle 1-3 class area, your mind will get blown up along with us 😂
this is a godly set up
Super
Does this shoot the PAC-3’s?
This was great, I would have loved to have a voice over or a font that was easier to read for the video.
I am just going to sit over here in a corner and cry with my RedCat51 and EdgeHD 8. :(
Absolutely amazing ! How do you integrate all the images, by stacking them all in the one post-processing software? Also, would a multi-rig like this work with similar aperture scopes but not the same work? Well done.
Impressive build, hopefully you are doing real Science with your system, such as unidentified NEO's, etc.
What a great video, thanks for sharing!
